All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

I was successful PV apln at Pei Hwa. For my case, I got the call from sch sometime in Sept and started PV activities from Oct-May, by which time I've clocked 50+ hrs. Nov-Dec was the lull period as sch was closed for the holiday.autumnbronze:
Hi there,
Can someone please enlighten me.
If the PV applicant selection is during May and June. When will parents be informed of the outcome (successful) and when do they start volunteering?

Hope I'm not wrong, but PV starts around June/July...bcos the hours must be chalked up before May the next year...P1 registration starts in July. The letter to apply under 2B needs some time to be sent out.
The school I may be considering closes its application for PV in April. The website says the selection process is from May to June, hence I take it from both your responses that PV can start anytime bet July and Oct, but must end by May the following year.
:thankyou: janet_lee88 and markfch.
Appreciate your help. -

Based on PVs that I've talked to, seems that the selection process is always late due to a variety of reasons. For my case, was told that the outcome will be known by Aug but in actual fact it was late by one mth.

Just took a look at the P1 registration form, it mentioned that PV requirement must be completed by 30 Jun. But since nobody likes last min surprises, most schs will work with PV to complete everything by May. Good luck to your PV apln

Hi autumnbronze,
To tell you honestly, I had a friend who continued to do PV even after her son had entered the school. There is no hard and fast rule although MOE states that PV hours must be chalked up before P1 registration.
We were rejected earlier and selected in Jan (the year of P1 registration for son). We finished 40 hours much earlier and continued as school needed helpβ¦glad to do so. -

Hi hi
Any parents out there applied as PV at Rosyth School and was successful? Please share with me your experience as Iβm keen to apply as PV at this school but understand it is very tough to get selected. Your advise will be greatly appreciated.
