      Hi JRLam

You can find more info with the following link :-

      http://www.phpps.moe.edu.sg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=149&Itemid=93

this programme looks interesting....you should let your ds participate unless he hates Science.....[/quote]

Thanks php and all 🙂 Sorry, didn't realize the info is on the web, though it really doesn't say much, haha ... thks!

Has any parents' child joined this program before? It does look interesting but can be quite time-consuming to go every Fri + projects (worse if need to bring work home!) .. not sure if it is worth it .. no time leh..must prioritize .. very KS hor .. I know.

It's not easy to make new friends. No worries though, the kids in Pei Hwa are generally friendly. Which class is your daughter in ?
Yes I agree. DS's P5 buddy during the 1st week actually advised him to study hard & not to mixed with bad company. He even made ds a bookmark with his contact number on it. So sweet of him  .

DS came back with two units of the chinese TING XIE list yesterday. As compared to P2& P3's TING XIE, the words are simple. Most of them are two characters. No Mo Xie list. Though that the first 4 classes should have the same materials. :?

                  Hi parents,

I chanced upon this non-PHPPS post from ‘Insider’ (just in case some of you overlooked this. Hope I am not infringing any copyright?) which I find it very meaningful to share.

In our unrelentless pursuit of academic excellence for our kids, to give them the BEST, want them to do well etc, are we depriving them from the ‘good, memorable moments/memories’? I am equally, if not very very guilty of that too … this post really set me thinking - what’s BEST for the kids, is it really good for them … maybe so if we don’t overdo it, but who’s to judge what’s overdo and what’s not?

Posted: 11 Jan 2011 10:28 Post subject: Death of a Child

                  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mum just called me and told me that my 23 years old cousin has just passed away.

This cousin has a twin brother, both are bright kids from Hwa Chong.

During his first JC year in HC, he suffered severe headache. Hospital couldn’t detect any thing irregular. But his headache was bad enough that he had to suspend his JC for a year.

He continued to experience bad headache, so painful that he would bang his head against the wall sometimes.

His twin brother went on to finish his JC, finish his NS and now in a local university pursuing a double degree.

After repeated checking, doc finally discovered a white spot in his brain that they said was cancer.

They operated on his head and chemeo him.

He lost his hair, his sight, and part of his memory.

                  He suffered so much.

My uncle sold his retirement apartment to fund the son’s medical bills.

My aunt is as skinny as a stick.

I don’t know how his twin brother has been feeling (that last time I spoke to him about a few months back felt that he was having quite a ‘grey’ view on life which I find it’s unhealthy for a young chap like him but I know it’s inevitable that he couldn’t bring himself to be cheerful. This shadow is going to haunt him for a while).

Now the whole family, incl my mum (who is the eldest in her family and takes care of her siblings like her own kids), is in a state of deep mourning.

Now, his pain and sufferings are all gone.

I feel very painful when I think of the period when he was blind.

I think whether he could remember anything colourful in his life other than the books he needed to mug prior to being blind (the pair of twins is outstanding from P1 onwards and they are the gems in everyone’s eyes).

I think what kind of regrets he carried with him prior to his last young breath (yet to get details but likely to be in an unconscious state in heavy morphine).

His departure is significant to me coz I am someone who believe that I will give myself and my kids a life with as little regrets as possible should they suddenly drop dead tomorrow. I practise the principle of 活在当下 as much as I can and try to inculcate same principle in my kids - stop worrying and start living.

I am reflecting again deeply what is life…

My beloved cousin, do rest in peace…

                  ===============================================
