Hi SAHMs
I'm aspiring to be a SAHM but the standards in Singapore is too high to rely on single income.
BTW, I'm searching for the right place to post this. MODs, please feel free to move the thread to appropriate place.
Our coy is looking for SAHMs to work as home-based telemarketers. We are a legitimate Singapore registered call centre who has been established since 10 years ago. As part of worklife balance initiative, we have recently rolled out a new work scheme targetting at SAHMs who want to work part-time from home. Payment is results based estimated between $5 to 9 per hour. Not coldcalling or MLM. No fees required. Just a good working PC and Internet Connection. Training will be provided for 3 days with allowance.
Please call 6-3-3-7-7-4-8-8 to look for Vivien or PM me your contact number for more details.
Cheers. -
hello everyone!
i am new to this forum, nice to read about all your experiences and thots. i am a new SAHM, started last Aug. I have 3 boys, which explains why i need to stay home. they need help to be disciplined!
they are in p4, p5 and k1. after staying home with them for a few months, i can't help but feel it was the right decision. i suppose there are many out there who can have a well run home and well behaved kids even while working but i stopped work cos i felt that my children were not making full use of their time.
anyway, it was a journey of emotional ups and downs. now i am finally settling down more.
agree with many of your thots, that we need to think about more than our own children. i also planned to be a SAHM (either full or part time) well into their sec school years. that's one of the reasons why i am SAHM now, and not when they were younger. i wanted to be with the boys when they reach puberty - to stabilise them, and also to \"protect\" my youngest from them! -

Around $900/mth for both my kids in primary school. I can't coach everything 心有余而力不足 so have to outsource my weakest link - English.just a mini poll.... for sahm only cos i think there is a separate thread similar to this.
how much are you spending on school/enrichment for all your kids. do you think it is justified given that we are sahp?
Besides English enrichments, they're attending non academic classes like speech & drama, arts & piano for my younger one -
i spent 1100-1200 for 3 kids, excluding childcare n sch bus. scary right?
#1 has tuition for all subj + piano
#2, eng n math
#3 music n jelic (music will be short term) -

As kids grow and reach a new phase, parents have to be aware of what they are up to. Hubby & I met his ex-colleague one day and he told us the problems he and wife faced with their 2 older daughters (sec school).
This is exactly the situation I'm facing next year as my youngest goes to sec 1. I plan to continue with my daily morning exercise routine, embark on a few projects- pick up a new language n plan a family holiday where I'll get to use the language at the end of each year, pick up new cooking skills, go on more holidays, volunteer to tutor/supervise some disadvantaged kids- there's only so much time one can spend indulging in oneself!sleepy:
Question
when our kids enter secondary schools, they will be less reliant on us SAHMs. The school syllabus is probably beyond us by then. At that time, how to justify continuing staying at home?
Scrub the floor? Nah.
N of course Janet_lee88 is right- sec school kids still need us, perhaps even more so as they become more mobile n capable of more mischief n need more guidance not so much on schoolwork but on issues that may trouble them. The challenge is to be the person they want to go to.
My aunt coached her kids in school work when they were in primary school, fetched them to tuition in secondary school, prepared snacks/light supper when they studied late at JC. When they were in the U, she made fresh juices to build up their immunity staying up late studying and picked them up after lectures. -
wow, really dedicated aunt. i supp communication wif the kids still rank the top, cos by then these kids usu will hv relationship problems…

Yes, she told me what to expect. My 2 cousins are brought up to be sensible, mature and well-behaved. -
Hey mums, how’s a day for you like? What time do you start, what do you do, what time do you end, do you have time for yourself and friends?
-
I became a SAHM in 2009 because wanted to spend more time with my kids. A typical day is to get them ready for kindy. Wake up early to prepare lunch before baby wakes up. Then get the older kids clean, fed and ready for kindy. When the school bus take them to school, it’s a sigh of relief for me, as I have some spare time with baby and to run my errands or prepare stuff. I do ferry them for enrichment classes. All kids sleep at about 930pm, so that’s my time with hubby and also I take on some assignment to earn some pocket money. So I will complete the assignment during the night too. Meeting with frens is a challenge as I have to make sure my hubby is able to babysit. With a little bit of coordination, I can still have some time for myself and meet up with frens. But still counting the days when all kids will be in school, so I have more alone time
