Hihi, how’s everyone’s 1st day at sch? My gal attending P1 this yr, anyone in class P1I? My gal looked so quiet and reserved during recess, so heartpain seeing her.

Just wondering how much do you give your kid as recess money? I gave DS $1 yesterday (1st day), he bought a bowl of noodles which also cost $1. Wow!! Didn't know so \"expensive\" for primary school canteen, as when I glanced through the prices at the canteen yesterday, it seems they are under $1.

Anyway, I now cut to 50cents :lol: much to DS displease. Preparing food for him so he can save the hassle and time of queuning. Also dont wanna give too much cos I know he will use it to buy tidbits.

On the first day, my DD told me that her hand so tired when I pick her up after school. She told she has to write alot because teacher gave her alot of worksheet to do. Is her teacher kiasu or all the classes have to do too?


I gave my dd $1.50 for buying food for recess. Today I asked her whether she save what ever pocket $$ left in her piggy bank. She told me no $$ left as she spend 80cent on 1 bowl of noodle and 70cents on a packet of milo. Then I realised prices had gone up. To teach her the value of saving, I decided to give her $2 so she has $$ left for saving.

For those with kids in P1, did your child receive the Parent’s Guide to STELLAR @ WGPS yellow booklet? There’s 2 pages of spelling list for term 1, but no date is indicated there. Does anyone know when are the dates?


In addition, have your kid receive the timetable already? And lastly, when will the PAL program starts?

We have received the parent guide and timetable yesterday. But no dates was indicated for the spelling. The PAL programme has already started yesterday for my girl's class.

We have received the parent guide and timetable yesterday. But no dates was indicated for the spelling. The PAL programme has already started yesterday for my girl's class.

I just talked to DS form teacher, and she told me that the parent guide is only for parent's reference. They have a seperate spelling list which they will be giving out later. Quite confusing intially, as in the booklet, it was stated as spelling list.

No timetable for his class yet as they want to do some monitoring first, but the timetable will be issue end of this month. So your DD class is actually quite fast to be receiving the timetable already.

Yeah, I was also told the PAL program has started, yesterday too. Though I was under the impression that the kids have to go early to school for the PAL program. Wonder what PAL program did they start with.

What's PAL program?

Giggler1 - PAL is the Programme for Active Learning, you can find more details here - http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2010/09/developing-skills-and-values.php. Some schools (like Corporation Pri) have already started PAL for a few years.

Though I wonder how come at West Grove, PAL is part of the school hours and not before that.

I received the Ting Xie list and spelling list today. For the latter, the list is exactly the same as those in the yellow booklet. Though there are spelling dates this time. Geesh!! Now I am a bit confuse as the FT has earlier told me the words in the yellow booklet are not the spelling list.

Anyway, I will drop a note to the FT (via the notebook) to seek clarifications, and get her email address. Glad that she is ok to give her email address, so I need not jump through the hoops to communicate with her when need be. Though hopefully she will reply her email lah :lol:

My son is already bringing back homework (mainly 1 page English worksheets) on and off since school starts. The last one is to write 5 sentences from a picture (with helping words). Not sure about the other classes though.
