What I like is the CCA is conducted during school hours...although lessons are affected, the kids do not have to stay back...but do give them more time to rest as it can be very tiring.

Hi E3, the memo didn't state the CCAs, but I remember reading in the handbook that Pri 3s will learn Table Tennis and Basketball, Pri 4s etc etc... cannot remember cos I only remembered for Pri 3.. haha... but will check DD's handbook when she comes back from school later... -

2) Demonstrate confidence in water without buoyancy aids.
3) Understand pool and water safety
I remember reading in the news recently that a new curriculum will be introduced, the focus will be more on water survival and life-saving skills. -

Hmm, so E3, you are spot-on![/quote]Thank goodness for this compulsory swimming CCA. My son refused to learn, so I told him to ask his principal if he can opt out. The coach assigned to his group - CANNOT SWIM AT ALL, is a friendly and patient. After first lesson, he was so mad with coach for dunking his head in the pool but strangely, he developed an interest. At the end of 4 lessons, he could swim breast stroke. -

I was given 50 cents in primary school then...now a plate of nasi lemak costs $1. My daughter in P1 is enjoying buying her own food and tells me there is no need to prepare any snacks for her. I'm ok with that, but she has to drink plain water...and no soft drinks.
PS: I think I'm also giving away my age but can't hide...hitting 40 soon.

I asked this before...hehe...If she did not sign up, she'll have to stay in school with the rest of those who didn't and no lessons will be conducted. That's why I will let my dd join her classmates for the swim lessons for the fun of it. It's a form of exercise anyway. She enjoys swimming and will welcome it anytime!
