Thanks Sean's wife & lakeside mum for your precious comments!!
Seem like JCK is really a great Kindy but the only concern for me is the distance. Actually with the extra curriculum like gym & music + Chinese speech & drama, is it necessary to go for other enrichment class? Would what the sch provide suffice for preparing Pri 1? Need to ask cos I am completely clueless! :?
And I am not their church member have to kena balloting as well.
I am actually looking at their 815am slot cos then I will be able to fetch my son there. If noon session then he will have to take sch bus...
Another Kindy I am looking at is Grace House at Bt Batok... Will drop by next week to take a look at both kindy. -

Since JCK is pretty far from CCK, perhaps you may want to consider CGM, it's located in CCK. I understand they do have transports provided too. Believed this kindy is good too. You may want to find out more with the school direct.
Coming back to JCK, the registration for new intakes normally takes place in Feb/Mar, so you might need to look out for it.
Sometimes, I feel that letting the kids to take bus to school can train their independence early. Moreover, they feel grown-up too. My 2 cents worth. -
Hi lakesidemum, what is CGM & where is it?
Yah taking sch bus can be an experience for them too.. Just that it is extra cost.

Hi, CGM is located in one of the private landed house along the old CCK road, if not wrong, is CCK Ave 1, just behind Palm Garden condo. Perhaps, you could do a google search on the school. My girl's ex-classmate is enrolled there thou they stayed in JW.Hi lakesidemum, what is CGM & where is it?

Bus - Indeed, an extra costs, but due to convenient and safety reasons for me, we opt for them to take the bus. Are a SAHM? Which part of CCK do you stay? My relatives stayed in Yew Tee also send her kids to CGM by the school bus. -
Hi lakesidemum, CGM = Chrisian Gospel Misson? Found it thru google. Thanks!
I stay near Yew Tee mrt, not a SAHM, but my timing is flexible. I would prefer the morning session then I will have the afternoon free to do my work.. -
I understand the class size for JCK is pretty big. Can the teacher reali manage?

Hi lakesidemum,
Do you know if the kindermusik lesson was held yesterday? My gals came back with the book, CD and clapper, but when I ask them if they had music lesson yesterday, they like ‘blur blur’…hahaha…
I haven’t looked through the book and CD yet…do you go through with them at home? BTW, are you a SAHM mother? I am working full-time, so think hardly have chance to pick them up from school and talk to the teachers.
Hi durianbei,
Personally I feel it may be better to source for a kindy nearer your place with OK curriculum and environment rather than a better one further away. I feel that no matter how good a kindy curriculum is, ultimately it’s the parents involvement that make a bigger difference. But I agree that it is not easy for FTWM like us, especially if we have more than 1 kid.
School-bus – my kids like it and that is a great motivation for them to go school on the first few days…we didn’t even accompany them on the bus on the first day.
Teacher/child ratio – I think many childcare centres, especially the premium ones nowadays like to promise low ratio, but after a while, I think it may not hold much meaning as they may not have replacement teachers even when 1 or 2 teachers are on leave or MC and things just ‘naturally’ slip down. Or teachers may just straddle between 2 or more classes just to make the ratio numbers look good.
The recommendation on MCYS website is:
Nursery 2, above 3 years to 4 years - 1:15
Kindergarten 1 & 2, above 4 years to 6 years old - 1:25 -

Well, on an average, there are about 25-28 kids in each class, and in fact, it's still not as big as some other kindy, where there close to 40 kids in each class.
On my observation, there are also assistant teachers that will be around to help out, and they have no problem in managing the kids. -
lakesidemum, but i need a morning slot if cant get it thru ballot then dunno how liao
