SOTA has 2 TAs - once in March, and another in June. There is a registration fee of $150. Suppsoed SOTA can conduct dsa in March since the focus is more on artform and not academic results (hence, no need to wait for P6 SA1). Moreover, SOTA's audition is very rigorous and the school might not be able to cope if there is only one audtion in June. Afterall, SOTA admits all students via DSA only.
Just told DD that registration period will open on 4 Jan and asked her to seriously consider whether she wants to have a go in March TA. Have bookmarked the url and asked her to read up and let me know her decision.Pen88n:
I've attended SOTA's DSA talk before. They have a really integrated programme integrating \"art\" with the various subjects. For eg. they have animation and if you are submitting a project / assignment on this, it can be on Story of Ming Dynasty in Chinese. Your project will be assessed by 3 teachers - Chinese for language, History for the facts, and Animation for the work as well. That is how they integrate the various components in their curriculum.SOTA has 2 TAs - once in March, and another in June. There is a registration fee of $150. Just to share my experience: My DD1 applied DSA for NYGH and DHS. She went for the GAT test for NYGH in the morning and rushed to DHS in the afternoon (same day) only to discover that the GAT test is the same ! They’re told to indicate in the afternoon GAT test if they have taken the same test b4 and the results from only the first GAT test will be taken. Lesson learnt : check with the schools if the GAT test is conducted by the same centre and you only need to pay the fees once.

You mean you didn't know about this? If the student is applying for DSA at different schools which are similarly using GAT, they should only be taking the GAT once. However for schools which administer other tests(eg. the HAST), they have to take it more than once. My son took the HAST 2x at different schools and although the components are the same, the questions are different. -

Even for schools taking GAT, the questions may not be the same. For example, for 2010 DSA tests in RI and HCI, I heard that applicants have to take the GAT tests in both schools.ningy:

RI & HCI & DHS all said that only one of the GAT would apply, and the child will need to only take it once, and the schools concerned would be able to get the GAT results from CSC from that one GAT. Has the practice changed?phankao:

Any second opportunity to retake???

Any second opportunity to retake???
Actually for the year 2010 DSA, the GAT by HCI and RI are from different sources, based on instructions from the schools, and so the kids had to do it once for each school because these are no longer outsourced to CSI. The tests are not similar; HCI is easier, based on feedback by a few kids who are my DS' friends. And some other schools' tests are called by other names like HAST etc....over and above the subject written test like math, language etc
