Luanee:
... Chief, how come I recieved an email notification saying I have not logged into this site since Dec 2008? :?
Sigh... I think I finally figured out what is causing that problem... the messages are being sent from our old US-based server that we are using for our beta-testing :stupid:
Anyway, anyone who reported to us about receiving such a message gets 100 KiasuPoints credited to their account, if that email is attached with your report. Quick way of getting KPs without doing much

Hi hi
Itβs me again. Few mths back I ask a question abt my girl whoβs into dancing (the mommies re so right, she is showing not as keen anymore) and I am in process of deciding where to stay.
I m now renting in the east. But will have to move to west soon to prepare for pri 1.
The ppty we bought is yet to be ready untill 2011. it falls within 1-2km to scgs
Was thkg if itβs advisable to move within 1km to increase chance since we re also renting now.
Just that the rental there will be more expensive there and we will be bound for 2 full years. My current place is renewable monthly.
What shld I do? Rent within 1km or cross fingers hope to get in? To scgs?
Or just continue to use the other address which is 1.99Km to sch (verified with sch) and hope balloting numbers lower as 2003 Is SARS year
My hair has dropped so much since my last posting. Over this worry. Btw any mommy has solutn to grow bk hair?
Tx so much -
Obviously, your chances of securing a place in SCGS are much higher if you were to rent a place within 1km. From my memory there has only been 1 year where there was balloting for those within 1km to SCGS, although there were a couple of years where it came close to balloting. Perhaps you can find out what the balloting numbers were like for 1-2km in the past few years and whether youβre willing to take the risk.

Tx tx for your reply
A frd suggested today I shld perhaps rent within 1km to nanyang. To save the hassle registering for my boy
In 2012. Of cos ballotg is expected
What u all think?
Tx in advance -
kaitlynangelica:
Hi Luanee,Luanee:
I think the reason why kaitlynangelica is deliberating is because she has 2 choices: 1. MGS (old girl sure gets in) and 2. PHPS (within 1km high chance too as this year ballot 1-2km). I think that if kaitlynangelica doesnt stay within 1km of PHPS, she would surely enrol her child in MGS right?
For ppl like us with only one choice, we dont have the luxury of thoughts
If I was staying far away, may consider sending my child to school nearer. I used to stay in Jurong and a lot of pp sent the child to Rulang there. I am just wondering what is the big deal since everyone keeps on telling me how lucky I am. My husband and I are both from ACS and MGS and we both don't understand why pp are so desperate to get their child into these schools. Sad to say, perhaps its because we dont' have that sense of belonging to our alma maters. Also, we both have the agreement that these schools tend to be filled with kids from rich families and we don't want our only daughter growing up with the wrong values.
Hi, im a newbie in this forum. i have a nephew registering for P1 this year. u seem to be the right person to confide in. i am looking at Pei Hwa due to its christan background, mixture of surrounding environments (HDB, Condo, private) and chinese culture. i have friends and colleague's children studying in Pei Hwa, heard that the teacher are very proactive in communicating with the parents. however, my nephew falls under Phase 2C. i am in dilemna whether to
try our lucks. is the balloting meant for ppl within 1-2Km cos we out definitely out of 2km. Pls advise me. thks a million. -

...So when you are in a ballot, even the chances is very high, there is xx possibility that YOU could be that unlucky one. So do go for a guaranteed plc if there is a choice to avoid disappointment!!
That's exactly what we have been telling parents all this time
. Sometimes, it's just not worth the stress we put ourselves through to get into that very popular school. We put up our stats and rankings on the schools primarily to warn parents of how difficult it would be to get into those top schools.

Hi jlph, for PHPS under phase 2C, balloting was done usually for those staying within 1km or 1-2 km only. Last year, 22 parents balloted for 6 places for the 1-2km category. So if you are out of 2km, my advice for u is to find another school. -

2 years ago, 31 of us vie for 23 places in Keming Primary under 1-2 km. We were one of the 'lucky' 8 that did not get a place. I immediately placed her name in the waitlist (#1) and just few days before school term began, we rec'd a call that we got a place. Hence, if you DID not get a place, you still stand a (very small) chance by registering child in the waiting list. (But, no, we did not take up the offer then. She changed her mind. ) This is not to raise your hope high, but just to let any of you know that if you are caught in such situation, this is one alternative you can do.rugrats_pat:
