Hi Mummies of P1 2011,
Anyone received letter regarding joining of CCA? Is it compulsory? Thanks. -
Berry123:
CCA is not compulsory in P1. you can opt for it, like ballet or Chinese speech and drama class. the letter is there to tell you if you want to sign up. there are costs, including transport costs if you are not able to pick your kid up etc, you should have that too. I think we all 'flooded' with school letters this week, there's practically one almost every other day - but its like that for the first few weeks of your child's journey to formal education - I guess its a pretty good idea that the school now is in single session, to accommodate all these. looks like day time naps will have to be pushed back a couple of hours for our little ones - goodbye pre-school!Hi Mummies of P1 2011,

I will not be letting my gal join any CCA just yet...since she just started P1. This whole week, I've been flooded with school letters to read, sign and return for both kids. It's truly the start of FORMAL SCHOOLING.

Oh yes, daughter said she wrote in her handbook to bring $35 for IJJ handbook ? I was like what, 'What is that book ? :!: $35 ???' Called school office only to realize it's $5.35. Scary man, signing quite a bit of cheques for stuff like house tee, worksheets, gym etc etc. -

Hi Quintessential Mum,
Hi janet_lee88 How is your girl doing? Enjoying school? Hope so! In the past, there was no prohibition wrt colour of sweaters etc. But safe to stick to white/blue/black. CheersQuintessential Mum:
HI wonderful_muah,
Forgot to congratulate you earlier on getting into RGS.
You must have done very well. How's Secondary 1 ?
I need to ask you something...mornings are quite cold, so wondering if there is any colour of jacket the girls can wear to school...like must it be blue or white ? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
How are you ?
Hey, Happy New Year to you too.
My daughter has kinda broken some ice in school. Very happy to be in an all girls school...reminding me every morning  that the pleats on her pinafore must be pulled straight...blah blah blah. I reminded her NOT to talk when principal or teachers talk during assembly or class.
Will stick to school colours for her sweaters. Thanks.
I am well. I was away for about 6 weeks. Hence the silence  Great to hear that your girl is enjoying school! Ha ha - also the belt cannot be too loose or tight in the past. Girls love to talk so it is alright. You can really cute sweaters from Bloomv and Gingersnaps. Take Care!

Hi Quintessential Mum/Mummies,
Can I seek your advice if there is any non-academic stuff I should teach my daughter ? For eg, behavioural issues. My daughter is a chilli-padi…very diff from my older child who is very 乖 type. Please advise me how I can make sure she is on the right track. Thanks in advance. -
Hi Mummies,
Sorry for the several posts sent recently.
Do you realize school has been asking parents to get this and that since school started ? I’ve signed several cheques and made cash payments for misc items like planner, some educational newspapers, IJ worksheets, house tee, gym/dance curriculum. -
Hi Mummies,
Anyone know which day is the Chinese spelling for P1 2011? Is the 1st chinese spelling over? My dd took back Chinese spelling list & format very confusing after reading. Anyone can explain further? Thanks. -
Hi hi Moms/Dads,
I've been a passive reader of this thread as my DD just got transfered to IJ this year. She's in P3.
It seems that my DD is still very much in her \"honeymoon\" stage. It worries me n DH cos in her former school, she would have already started her structured courses. Till now, she has yet to received her English spelling list :?
We actually like her former school system as much. However, there's no affliliated secondary, hence the decision to transfer her.
Everyday after school, ask her has she started any lessons yet? Her reply is always decorate this book and that book? Wondering if IJ wants them to settle down in school first then \"pump\" them later on? I was also formerly a IJ gal but from different IJ and its many moons ago, so the culture may be different.
Any comments/advise appreciated. -

If my son had been accepted for transfer, I would have done that. We wanted so much to transfer him to a school with affiliated sec but missed the chance.

My daughter at P1 has already received the spelling book for spelling from Term 1-4. Very impressive.
Teaching wise, I find it rather slow too but I suspect it will speed up after CNY. Same thing happened to son too...first gear until CNY, then suddenly 4th gear :?: -

Yes it is abit odd. In previous years, the spelling list was out earlier. I have two kids in IJ and neither has received their spelling list. I am not complaining because to me, spelling is a brain-numbing exercise for parents!Hi hi Moms/Dads,

Perhaps the school is revising the way it teaches English.
I hope your dd is enjoying herself. Your dd must be a rather good student; transfer girls are typically top students from their old schools. P3 is a good year to come in as all the girls have been allotted into different classes so they have to adjust to new classmates anyway.
