What to you pack for kids' recess/lunch in school?

Fairy:
sardine is one of the fish which has the highest level of omega-3, one of the best brain food.
ha ha.. I remember when my ds was in P1 many years ago, there was this period when he was really into sardine. Thinking that sardine is a good food, at least for calcium, I suggested he brought rice with fried egg and sardine in a lunch box for recess.
He did it once, and that was the first and last time! When he came home from school, he told me; \"Mummy, i think i'm not going to bring food to school anymore. When I opened my lunch box during recess, everyone beside me pinched their noses and scram!\".
I think it must have been the strong sardine smell coming from the lunch box when he open the lid. I guessed he must have been embarassed by his classmates' reaction.
additionally, sardine is a small fish, it doesn't risk the chance of being contaminated with mercury or heavy metal.
for this reason, it better to stay away from eating those \"big fish\"
yes, not advisable to pack sardine in a lunchbox, becos of the strong smell of the omega-3 fats
and it also doesn't taste good when it is cold. -

So I'm not the only one with a super fussy son.
Last year, when DS is in P1 (PM session), make sure he had a good lunch and just let him bring packet of UHT milk with two slices of bread.
This year, he's in morning session and will reach home about 2.30pm.
Told me he's fainting and giddy when he reached home on 1st day of school, though he finished all the snacks given to him.
Since then, I've been giving him more items and next week may try to have some fried rice.
His snacks for recess includes:
1) UHT milk
2) Kraft cheese stick
3) Fruits (grapes or small banana)
4) 3 slices of bread, with jam/kaya/butter & sugar
OR with luncheon meat
OR with susage
OR with scramble eggs
OR roti prata with susage
5) Always pack around 5 goat milk candies in his bag, for him to munch during his way home, if he's hungry
Tried making sushi for him but he complaint the rice is too cold :stupid:
Was thinking whether I can make sushi but put in thermal box? Will that be nice??
Anyone tried doing that?
Pls share. -

My kids' fav food for recess:
Croussant (sorry wrong spell
) with ham or bacon
OR
Hotdog bun with sausages and few slices of hard-boiled egg. -
Hi,
Thks for all the tips.
So far, i hv prepared the following:-
1) sandwiches ( peanut butter, nutella,ham, egg)
2) french toast
3) fried rice
4) 1 packet of Honeystar + 1 pkt UHT milk.
DD has enjoyed the sandwiches best cos they were made with different cutters. She enjoys her \"cute cute\" bread. :boogie:
The worst was the fried rice. The fried rice was packed as heart shape rice (pseudo bento). However, my gal complain its cold n \"looks messy\" when she open the box up during recess.
Appreciate if anyone can share tips on how to ensure the cooked food like spagetti and fried rice still look n taste good during recess

Poohbear:
u can put the fried rice in a small thermo flask, get her a long spoon.
