We got them during one of our visits to the Jurong Frog Farm. A bullfrog tadpole is about the size of an adult's thumb (fat one). It costs $2 each, IIRC. We got two. They are very easy to rear. We just have to give them fish pellets and put them in a small fish tank with cover. When their hindlegs are fully formed, which also means the lungs are formed, you have to put in some pebbles for them to bask on so that they can take in the surrounding air.

The bullfrog is called \"牛蛙\" and yes, they are commonly known as \"田鸡\" when cooked. Mine didn't survive our house-moving. I am not too sure whether you can simply release them at the park, they are, afterall, not butterflies, which you can just let them fly away.[/quote]Thanks E3. Do we have to put in much water? I think even my P4 will fall asleep reading this. Last year, Berries started her reading this. She only did the 'essential'. :roll:

I am still doing 四五快读 Bk 5. two more books to go.
She has improved a lot since I started on it, hopefully when I finished them she can do some basic reading. The next series to start is 卡梅拉 then followed by 露露和拉拉. Then hopefully by then she can start on this series php recommended.

But to do the 20-30mins chinese reading every night is very \"siong\" on the daddy though I can see the impact. Have to \"Add Oil\".

Yes I intend to show my DD too. I think my DD will dare to let it crawl on her hand. Guess I will be the one to be afraid! :lol:

Call up to check whether there's stock, if you are interested. Look for Ms Wan - 9763 9077. She is very friendly. The tadpoles are imported if I am not wrong. I supposed it's ok to release them at West Coast Park which was actually our intention. Not neccesary to reduce too much water. They can swim in the water too. I put in a bowl upside-down into the small hand-held aquarium for them to jump on.

Same here. I dislike creepy crawlies but my dd could pick up a caterpillar or butterfly at the Cameron's Butterfly Farm and put on her arm when she was only 4. I was itching all over. I guess it's good to expose them as early as possible when they are still curious and not marked by a sense of fear yet.

Ok, I am inbetween stuff, so got to do a quick post here.

No, I did not use a DSLR. Just my trusty little Fujifilm Z1. I have since retired it 2-3 years ago.

I dared not hold the caterpillar initially, it was my garang #2 (then 2 yo). She just pick it up and placed it all over her. Then, as her mommy, I could not show my fear...... :lol: The P4 girl only dared to poke it. :lol:

If any of you are interested, you can get the caterpillar kit at oh chin huat farm http://www.ohfarms.com.sg/ I think its about $3 or $4 for a kit of 2 caterpillars in a container with supply of leaves. Instructions was pasted on the container. It was easy. Just need to change the paper once a day and refill with fresh leaves. After a week or so, it will pupate. Another few days, the butterfly will emerge.

I had a little pug for 15 years and was totally heartbroken when it passed away. I just cannot keep another pet for so long again. My kids are asking for a doberman or retriever. We do not have a space now. Maybe next time. So, for now...such short-term 'pets'.
