2010 COPs for 2011 Sec One Intake
-
for most schools, new sec 1 students will be allocated classes according to the ranking of their PSLE results, with the best classes being called 1A,1B,1C…etc, E1,E2,E3, or 1/1,1/2,1/3, etc.
what about Crescent Girls Sec School? How are the Sec 1 students grouped into? are they also allocated classes in alphabetical/numerical order, with the better classes being A,B,C… and 1,2,3… ??? -

not necessary that best class must start with 1 or A...and if the school says there is no best class, then believefor most schools, new sec 1 students will be allocated classes according to the ranking of their PSLE results, with the best classes being called 1A,1B,1C...etc, E1,E2,E3, or 1/1,1/2,1/3, etc.

for some schools, best class label is also random and they use a different letter / number from year to year. there is no acknowledgement from school to say which is best class -

I am thoroughly impressed with the way that NUSHS have positioned and pitched themselves. From a institution with zero history and tradition, they have managed, by limiting intake, and setting tough entry criteria, transmorgified themselves from a potential ugly duckling into beautiful swan in short order. And guess what, having swiped the cream (or part of the cream), and not participating in national (benchmarking) exams, how can they go wrong??
Don't get me wrong, I am not taking a swipe at NUSHS. Its 2 bus stops from where I live and my boys (if by slim chance decide to be clever enough) may still consider it a choice. But right now, at least a part of it is hype. Strong schools with strong traditions, to me, are still the preferred choice. -

in fact, some schools would like to use \"A\" for the worst class
not necessary that best class must start with 1 or A...and if the school says there is no best class, then believe
Just like in DHS, \"3 A\" is the worst class which is the \"O\" level class (students are stream by end of sec2). -

but no track record leh....., plus as I said, limit intake, set admission test, and suddenly they are an elite school?? Seems a little far-fetched to me. -
140 of them based on their own selection criteria; some scored in PSLE from 240 all the way to 27x…but PSLE is not the benchmark, so not fair to judge them by PSLE score. everyone has a bad day some day
no need to sit for O or A level, certainly a very attractive option
what is the benchmark to enter NUS / NTU / SMU or Oxford/Cambridge or the Ivy ?
or is it a guaranteed entry to NUS regardless ? what if not good enough for NUS, where to go ?
for HCI, we know certain categories of students who meet certain benchmark has direct entry into the Big 4 in China -

Who says they have no track record? In the 2010 International Olympiads for Science and Mathematics (most prestigious Math & Science competitions for high school students), NUS High garnered a total of 7 medals, same number as RI. Hwa Chong got 2 medals. Other JCs like VJC, NJC and IP schools like Dunman High and RV got nothing. http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2010/07/2010-international-olympiad-science-mathematics.php.
In the Singapore Maths Olympiad Junior Section, NUS High was the champion team for the last 2 years. Also, For Singapore Physics Olympiad, and the Junior Physics and Chemistry Olympiads, NUS High was one of the top two performing institutions, beating HCI pants off. -

Come on ! NUS high has already selected the cream of the crop of those maths and science olympiads ( platimum receivers) during the DSA exercise. Obviously, they can produce stunning results. Unfair comparisons being made.3Boys:

There are people out there who did not know much about NUS High but keep saying negative things against them. Feel that they 吃不到葡萄说葡萄酸! Next time if want to say negative things against someone, find out more or else really let people feel that you are .... :stupid:
