My dd2 is so inspired by the pork ribs and corn soup that she asked her daddy to buy corn seeds and now she is attempting to grow corn in a little pot

Seems interesting. I think I need to read from page 1 of this thread to have a better idea...
Oh my, Happy Mama. Looks like we are treading into the Themal Pot thread nowHappy Mama:
This thermo pot thread seems to fun and exciting.
This is the first time I hear of a Thermal Pot. So it's not slow cooker, not pressure cooker and not double boiler?
How interesting! Wonder how it looks like :?
Uhh... it's something like a slow cooker but yet not quite. Basically, u just cook/boil for about 30mins - 1hr and then put the pot into this thermal pot. And then viola, your soup/stew is ready at the end of the day. Good for busy mommies.
Here's a link to get an idea.

Very convenient for cooking. Meat is tender and the soup/stew is very tasty at the end of day or next day, depending on when u want your stew/soup to be ready. There are quite a few brands out there. Just read the thread to see what other forummers have to say.
Am turning to be a regular kitchen gadget gal with all these kitchen toys I'm getting

Yes me too! I have never liked the kitchen in the past and now because of KSP, I am into bread making, and next eyeing the soya bean machine, and now this thermal pot. Gosh, am I becoming more and more like an aunty? :!: My friend who has known me for 12 years asked me since when I became so domesticated. :rotflmao:
Oh yes, who knows this thermal pot thread may become the next hot topic just like the bread thread. Hahahaha!!  -
Happy Mama:
An Aunty?!? Heaven forbid. Must be like Nigella Lawson... aspire to be a domestic goddess :preen:

It's interesting...doesn't use electricity...'cooks' your soup and you have a nutritious soup for dinner. No need to watch the fire either. Took my hubby some time to accept it...anyway, he just has to open his mouth to eat. Mine is a 4.5 litre. There's even a 6 litre but too big for my family. This thermo pot thread seems to fun and exciting.

Is it possible to make porridge in slow cooker/thermal pot? Which one is better in terms of time taken and taste of the final product?
-
Yup, its possible to cook porridge in thermal cooker. I think the final cooking taste the same with the slow cooker, except this thermal pot doesn't need electric. Since i have thermal cooker, i never use my slow cooker anymore.. :). Love it!

Oh, that good. Thanks for the reply.
Can we put in the rice at night and have the porridge for breakfast? Do we need to reheat or will it still be warm in the morning? -
Yes, if you leave the rice overnight, it will become porridge in the morning.. Normally I boiled the rice around 10pm before going to bed, and put the inner pot into the outer pot, leave it overnight.. and when I woke up, it's still warm but i will heat it up again on the stove.. :).

Wow 4.5 litres is too much for my family. Wonder if they have smaller ones...
