I am a 'recent', very novice baker. Started 2 years ago. Managed to only bake cookies using simple recipes successfully.

After all this flurry about breadmaking and once I get the machine, will try out cakes and cupcakes, sans the mixes

I'm thiking to give a try of the recipe. What do you mean by \"bake cheesecake ina water bath\"? Thank you.

Means to put the pan of batter into another shallow pan 1/2 or 3/4 filled with water. This keeps the cake moist.

Forgot to ask you what is the degree for baking. TQ very much.

Wow, thanks KSI for starting this thread. It is very useful and 'mouth-enriching' for cai niao like me! I love to drool, drooling is good! Lol.


Anyone has any easy to bake recipe that does not require any electric mixer? Had wanted to try BC's and some other premix brand too but mostly requires an electric mixer which we do not have. Easy recipe so that my children can do as well. So far we have only tried BC's cookies that does not require one. We would like to try to bake a cake. :thankyou:

Betty Crocker cake mixes do not require an electric mixer. Super easy. Just pour in the mix into a big bowl, add water, egg, oil, stir, then pour into baking tin and bake. Even a small child can do on their own.

Electric mixer makes it more convenient or maybe not cos I find it a hassle to wash and keep. For most cookies, there is no need for a mixer, a good whisk and arm will do the trick. Good for toning those flabby underarms.

No need. If you have a mixer you can use it. Otherwise just stirring with arm muscles is fine. Super easy. One big bowl to wash at the end of it. No need to wash the mixer
