      Hi,

How do you all find the conditions of dang dang's books?
Ordered once before and got dusty and slightly torn books.
So I'm quite hesitant about ordering books from dang dang again.
I would say mostly came in very satisfactory condition. If a few books were too big, then the edges may be bent. I am perfectly ok with the dusty part when the books are so cheap!!

:? I have not received the books but DD asked me to verify receipt. I guess it's an auto thing that once my order was shipped out and at the 8th wk, DD will remind you to click on the order to confirm receipt.

I took the opportunity to email them to check the whereabouts of my books, since even their system thinks I should have received the books by now.

So far I ordered long distance thrice, and all the packaging were torn. Singpost wrapped in plastic and once China Post 'gave' me one of their postal bags (very thick cloth material).

But luckily, some of the booksets are bundled together and wrapped, so the stuff escaped damage. A bit bent edges, I'm ok. And dusty - definitely so. And will still go back becos prices are cheap and books are wayyyy good.

You are correct, it's an auto thing. There was an order to a china address. Their courier didn't call to verify and just assume that cannot be delivered. It took 5 weeks for their courier to send back to warehouse. Meanwhile, my order was auto-ed to completed. But all's well that ends well. Just that I had to keep emailing them becos didn't 'fang xin' what the courier may do (bring my books home to read?).

So far, all my orders are on the dot - 8 weeks. I gave up hoping becos I know the books will arrive.

I might have to wait longer than 8wks…DD gave me the tracking number and I checked on the China Post website, it seems although DD despatched the books out on 25 Nov, the books were only sent to clear custom at China side on the 17 Dec, I checked with Singpost and was told my package has yet to either reached Singapore or cleared through custom. It seems Singpost will have information about my package only when it cleared through our custom

Actually when I first ordered from dangdang in Dec 2009, the books arrived in 2 to 3 weeks !

I believe it is because many people are ordering from them, and the orders are huge, that is why the shipments are delayed.

I have been reading and \"hearing\" so much about Dangdang and how good their books are... I am so tempted to purchase from them. The only thing that's holding me back is that everything is in Mandarin. Not that I do not understand Mandarin, but I have never liked reading anything in Mandarin (though I enjoy Chinese shows)... 😉 😉

Arrggghhhh!!!! Can't they have a button where we can click for English? I'm ok even if they translate in broken English as long as the message is put through.

i had ordered the \"si wu kuai du\" as recommended by Tamarind and I have read feedbacks from other parents. it is for my P1 DS and next time can pass down to DS2

you can go read the post on \"teaching chinese at home\" or the post from Tamarind.

thanks tamarind for your recommendations!

Remember to read the first 30 pages of book 1, and use games to teach !
