CNY - do you look forward to it?
-
CNY is really for the kids…I remember getting all excited about CNY when I was younger - new clothes and everything. Now, I just couldn’t be bothered. Fortunately, I’ve passed the ‘when are you getting married’ and ‘when are you having another kid’ stage. Whew !!!
I will enjoy first 2 days of CNY this year, bcos I told myself NOT to plan any work for son…enjoy this year as next year will be crucial year (PSLE). -
I don’t like CNY cos most of the relatives we hardly meet the whole year round, so come together on CNY don’t really know what to say. Plus they are most likely to compare kids or number of kids, and ask insensitive question like “so when are you going to have another baby?”.
Have been toying with the idea of going away for a family vacation during CNY, but the pricing is so much more ex durng this period. anyone has done it before (go on holiday during CNY). Is it worth it? -
I LOVE Chinese New Year! Always have, since a child, and now as a adult with kids, perhaps even more so.
The festivities, cookies, bak kwa, CNY songs (yeah, some here may mock me for not being to understand all the lyrics, but...) time with family, giving ang-pows, receiving ang-pows. Yeah, tiring and some parts that are a little draggy, but overall great fun. -
finally feeling a little CNY mood.
went DBS queued for new notes, after 30 mins, some of the denominations ran out -
the mood and joy of CNY i experience now is never the same when i was a child.
during childhood, the 2 days of CNY were my happiest days in the entire year. :imcool: -

same here but i don't mind since they are my darling nieces and nephews. -
Ang pao wise, don’t really lugi since I have 2 kids…it’s ok to give to my unmarried cousins because we grew up together and rather close.
Now thinking when to change curtains in the hall and daughter’s room…next weekend will change bedsheets. Washed kids’ new clothes already. -
Exactly 1 week to CNY eve!!!

Exactly 1 week to CNY eve!!!
*groan* don't remind me..... :nailbite: I'm not looking forward to it. It's boring and noisy and I don't exactly know what to do when most of the in-laws will be yakking away or playing mahjong, while the kids will be on the computer, PSP, DS and what nots. It's either watching the TV or reading the newspaper. I'm getting really antsy and want to get it over and done with. -
This is one holiday that i really really look forward to.
Why?
Being non-chinese, its all play and no work for me.
I soak in the festive atmosphere , dig in the caloried filled love letters, so much of read , my fav colour in the air, mandirin oranges and of course Long long weekend to laze around and no real responsibilities

Do you have to stay there long ? How about taking a walk or drive with hubby ? -

This is the festive season i like most. I enjoy the preparation work such as buying new year goodies, buying new clothes for myself, my children, my parents and my in-laws. It makes me feel good..though :moneyflies: ..anyway it is once a year ..so be happy la. I also follow my mum footstep by praying to the sky god on the cny eve till abt 1am and also pray on the 8th night CNY to celebrate the birthday of the sky god...All these make my cny celebration interesting and exciting
As my in-laws stay with us, so on the first day of cny I will go back to my parents place for celebration. On the second day, I will be out for visiting to my husband's relatives together with my in-laws and sisters in law.
Wish all of us WAN SI RU YI!!!!! GONG XI FA CHAI!!!!!! HUAT AHHHHHH!!!!

hope i’m not too late to join in …
I LOVE lion dance!!! i will chase after as many lion dance performances as i can! It is only with the lion dance that i can feel the CNY mood.
i like the noise hahahahaha !
i like giving out ang pows!! (i’m nowhere near break even despite having 2 kids)
but somehow CNY visitation etc is very tiring, and i find the once-a-year chit chat quite boring. We don’t have much to talk about, so my visits are capped at max 30mins. anything more than that i cannot tahan.
another grouse is that CNY messes up my kids’ meal schedule and nap schedule. The elder one can go without naps, but the younger one gets grouchy and really difficult to handle without his naps.
my 1st & 2nd days of cny are really jam packed, no chance to get home for a nap. in fact, i only get home after midnight on day 1!
i’m sure my dog hates it just as much because i’m not home to bring him for his walks, so he has to stay over at my sister’s house during CNY.
I hate the hot weather & sweat that comes along with it.
i hate the blisters that come with my new shoes.
i hate the aching calve muscles from wearing heels.
(I would trade those in for my fitflops anytime just for COMFORT!)
hmm, seems like i have more things i dislike abt CNY than things that i like!
