Me staying central area.
Targeting RVPS.
RVPS have balloting in Phase 2C but depend which is the distance being cut off for balloting. -
Phase 2C.

Me going for RVPS (hopefully still got balloting chances at 2C for >2km), if cannot then go New Town lor…
Actually doesn’t really matter if i dun go in… hehe…

Hi. I'll also be registering my daugher this july under phase 2c! ... pardon me if I asked anything that has been repeated before or if i sound stupid.. ... as this is my first time going thru this nerve wrecking experience. Am super stressed already..School P1 registration is still very manual. You only know the number of applicants in that school when you are there. There is no real time update on the screen (not like stock market) or something like that. The numbers will probably written on the whiteboard by parent volenteers (hopefully not those on the same registration).
An example in a school with following scenario of the 50 seats available for 2B
within 1km - 20 applicants - all get in.
1-2km - 35 applicants, need to ballot (there will be 5 disapponted parents)
2km - no chance (try another schools).
One will know the chance based on the distance of address. The lesser the seat available the more critical is the distance.
PaiSeh but...Check with you once again, you mean when I register my DD during 2C, the school will update the no. of applicants on the whiteboard everyday during the registration period? Or only after they closed the registration?
Thanks.. -
Can check online oso taymeister..

Yes can check online the number of registration at the end of which phase.
Better have better luck because everytime come to P1 registration, MOE website have major traffic condiiton. Also the hotline of MOE always not able to get through.
Chief KS,
Would you be doing in the KS website so that can allows us have another source of viewing? Something like Take Up rate, etc etc? -
The whiteboard in school is handwritten and the numbers come from the admin office so is almost quite updated in that sense. The MOE website and teletext also update it at around 7.30pm (once a day) but without the breakdown of the number of applicants in different distance.
MOE website only publish those schools which need to ballot a few days after each phase of 2B or 2C is closed.
I think the numbers on the whiteboard are only important for parents aiming for super popular schools where distance is critical. If a parent who stay 1-2km go to the school and saw the whiteboard that there are more applicants within 1km than the seats available, then the parent will not blur blur go and apply. -

New Town was merged with Ghim Moh Primary School in 2009. The building is very new & the best part it is a single session. In Queesntown area guess have quite limited primary schools.
RVPS past history indicated that balloting for more than 2km but difficult to say as this year the intake was reduced to 240.
Had tried to do PV with FMPS last year but was not successful.I guessed I'm just too far away from FMPS. -

In that case, I think it's better to be there!!! I falls in the >2km category! :?:
arghhh.. this is getting too stressful.
Good luck to everyone who's applying this year. :celebrate: -
Hi taymeister,
Maybe would be best to check with the school on the 3rd day after AM registration. This would see how yr chance whether able to get in or required balloting. :?
Maybe some school can ask you don't have to come as balloting would be require at 1Km or those 1-2Km. Try list out some of the schools & plan yr strategy move. :celebrate:
