After 2 years of seeing his CA1 results plunge to Band 3, I really don't want him to be so disappointed. He has to work every hard to pull up for SA2 but damage is already done...too late.

See? Your Kid has improve from Band 3 to Pull Up in SA2 ....

He's Disappointed with His Poor Results - Shows that he has Mature and start Thinking about School Work Oredi ....
      So Quit OVER-Worrying -la!
      :celebrate: :celebrate:

He will be disappointed for a while, then forget about all about it after we have consoled him. It's really a struggle climbing uphill after having Band 3 for CA1 and SA1.

i'm considering to change english tuition from The learning lab to Mind Stretcher Learning Centre. TLL is too far from my home...but i dont know the mind stretcher's tuition level, or any other good center can be recommended for english subject nearby the peihwa .. :?

have you consider TAS at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre? Many Pei Hwa students are there...

btw, how is TLL? is there plenty of hw to do? I am considering changing from TAS to TLL. Not that TAS is no good, but i have my reason for changing....

I feel that TLL & TAS are 2 different kettles of fish. TLL is most beneficial for those kids scoring A whose parents don't mind paying generously to convert it to A*. TAS (BT branch) is more of a value preposition. Much easier on the wallet and reasonably good, but imho certainly not the best out there.

The above is just my personal opinion. No offence intended.

Any person reading PH thread better not be a parent, or else he/she definitely won't consider having kids. Is the way of life for kids now ? So pitiful. Son's wall has several 3M post-it to remind mummy which areas need to be improved...these areas which need to improvement are derived from son's school worksheets like synthesis, not assessment books.

          It's just crazy.
Oh janet, there you go again. Anyway not all parents need their kids to excel academically. My FIL's view of excellence is for ds to be built like a bull  (oops sorry, complain post must be in the other IL thread πŸ‘… ). Second Funx3's suggestion, throw away those post-it. Maybe it'll be more effective to just focus on the single biggest area for improvement?

Ok, I throw away the post-it.
I know my son is not the academic person since P1, but I'm not pushing him to be one either.

              Happy Mama:

Yes I think you can book the tt table at BT CC, but the hall can be quite stuffy since they don't switch on the air-con.
DS had his first taste of tt today so I asked him how did it go? What did he learnt during the morning? His reply straight off the cuff was 'today I learnt that tt teachers are very fierce.' What kind of ans is that? πŸ˜“

DW also asked ds how's ping pong today. I've to correct her, it's table tennis, not ping pong. Don't sully the name of this beautiful game now that ds is hooked. πŸ˜‰

Yes the coaches are very strict as they want to instil discipline in the kids. πŸ˜‰ DD was tasked to pick balls initially.

Imho one-to-one tuition is the best. I always feel that english especially at upper pri level should not just teach the language, but also incorporate a certain level of general knowledge/awareness in kids. I certainly hope that by the time ds reaches upper pri, he is matured enough to discuss most things under the sun. It's ok if these things are not tested in PSLE. It's the maturity of thought that I'm going after.

I saw TLL, Learning Pt & Mind Stretcher (advanced learner category) offering what I just mentioned so in time to come, I'll keep my options open.

You try first, then update me later. Can? Keke.
