Same here. DD homework load still very light since the 1st day of school till now. As such we just make use of this period to clear some work and once the school work increase then we can cut down all these extra work.Wow, all your schools briefing so early! DS' school will only hold briefing and parent teacher meeting in Apr timeframe. So far, his homework load quite light and no major increase in load. In addition, supp class only once a week. Now, should I be worried? :?
DH said I'm a typical KS mum....too much homework :!:
Too little  :scared: How not to??? -
For dd school, I do not see a lot work coming in.Generally its still pieces here and there.
Probably they are trying to pace the child up.

Hi Brenda,
Your DD's schedule sounds like my DD's schedule. DD started her 3x a week supplementary lessons first week of sch and yesterday, she came back and told me the teachers want them to attend extra enrichment lessons conducted by external vendors 2x a week from Feb to May. That means, she she has to stay back after sch everyday!!!
Dunno how she's going to cope with it? Hope that she has the stamina to keep up with the marathon.
Thanks for sharing about the importance of monitoring our kid's emotions during this stressful year. Will be attending the Parents' Briefing by the P and FT this Friday. Hopefully, will find out more info from the sch.
Hi Thinkerbelle,
I think for dd's school the most they will go up to 4X a week inclusive of enrichment class. I also hope dd can cope as she has been quite relaxed since last year. -

I also think the work load is very light. However can not raise too much questions during the parent-teacher meeting otherwise may be black listed by the teacher. -
Hi Brenda,
Thanks for sharing and I understand the black listing part.

May be the teacher is very season on handling this event but to people like us who has no experience will feel uncomfortable with such a slow pace. -

Think your DD's sch is slowly easing the kids in for the avalanche of work later in the term. Dunno about your child but mine was still in holiday mode when sch re-opens. Need time to warm up her engine..

HiTinkerbelle\"]
I would think so.So far, dd just had topical tests, basically test for every subject after indiv topic is being taught. The test are not told in advance.
Actually, if the kids \"run too fast\"now, may not have extra energy later on.That is just one cent of my thoughts.I know some parents are already pushing the kids as if tomolo is PSLE.

For T1 in P6, it's good to focus on the new topics: algebra, speed, circles.
What I'm doing with my students now: Going through the above topics and revisiting percentage, ratio and fraction.
They are starting off with CA1 papers from top schools (1 paper a week).
By end term 1, I would have completed teaching all the topics and we will start more intensive work by starting on challenging problem sums for P6 topics.
By June holidays, it will be intensive Q&A. They try, they ask, I clarify.
Usually by end July, my students will finish their stash of past year exam papers and I'll dig out different challenging questions or revisit certain 'techniques' or 'topics' which they have problems with.
After that, it will just be enough work to keep momentum going.
All the best!
Regards,
Mrs Wong
