My kids are damn blessed!. At primary 6 level, after 10.15pm, strictly no home work. Must be in bed by 10.45.pm. Itโs a familyโs practice.

Of course that would be nice. But what happen if, your kids are in my cousin's school giving tons and piles of work to do everyday and all must be completed and handed in the next day?
Mine is in P6 this year. So far, touch wood, still do not see the 'kiasuness' in their school or teachers yet. But I believe after the CNY, we should start to see the work load increase already but hopefully it's not like that sch of my cousin, such madness.

Both my kids chiong immediately after lunch when they returned back from school. On several occassions whereby my dd failed to complete her hw by 10.15pm, i had asked her to stop immediately and wrote a note to her teacher.
So far, had not received any complaint from any teacher regarding the above. -
Wow, and the teachers are ok with that? Everytime? Yours taken PSLE already?
Because I think most schools will give moderate amount of homework and probably slightly more for those in P6, unlike my cousin's, so should be manageable if the kids are able to manage their time well.
Btw, just curious, may I know how do you usually write for such cases like you've just mentioned? I do not think most teachers are readily willing to accept that. Who knows, I may try it one day too should my girl's work is really overloaded
But you are right in controlling them to be asleep by certain time. I always believe that having enough rest helps in getting better results too (one of the main factors).

We more or less have the same view.
I have two kids, one at jc1 and another at jc2. At PSLE, which is the most important exam for kids, my view is that parents need to strike a balance between pushing hard and adequate play and rest. My ds is a fast doer whereas my dd tends to idle around in her lower primary days. At primary 6, i would ensure that she finished her homework, however, there were several occassions whereby the workload was overwhelming. On such occassions, i had written to her teachers to explain why she couldn't finished her hw given the circumstances. Her teachers accepted my explainations.
As my son is attempting the most important common exam of his life this year (A-level), he has adopted the good practice of going to bed at 10.45pm. -
Hi ppnqq, I'm getting very curious which sch your cousin is in? convenient to mention it?

-
I canโt recall but they are residing in Tampines and the school is some where near their place. Sorry.

Definitely quality!! With quantity, some kids go into 'information overload' mode with that much work and absorbs nothing much from all their efforts.Agree with you, Brenda. It is madness in its extreme form
This is a sure recipe for disaster :!: I don't think this can last for more than a couple of days. surely there will be very poor attendance in school.
What is impt quality or quantity? -
