In this point of view, more practice is useful if you want you kids to be successful in the GEP test.[/quote]Yes it is impt but I know of one girl who is selected for GEP but couldn't finish her Math paper (don't whether A or B). She was so upset that she cried when she has to stop doing that paper, so terrible. But she must have done very well in her English and Math GAB part. Just for info, for math selection test, there are two papers Part A and B (with a allocated time) then follow by a short break and Math GAB paper. So not to worry too much, just encourage your kid to be cool and calm and just treat like doing your school SA papers or doing past year papers. For me, I don't even want to mention about sitting for the GEP paper on that particular day to my DD! Quickly send her there and 'drop' her with a quick 'bye'.

Thanks to all the warm welcome. Yes, E3, the ICAS topics do include all subjects. Infact, there are papers for P2 even. So parents of P2, you can have a headstart if you want to. Ha..... really KS, right? But then, if you look at some top schools, I realise some P2 has already exposed to such papers. So PHPPS is consider 'late'. I only find out ICAS when PHPPS ask stds whether they want to register for such papers. If is a real pity, as I find the papers really interesting esp the English papers. They are really different from sch. papers. Really open your eyes. The sci for P3 covered certina topics that are not cover by in our school syll. Good for general knowledge.

Thks periwinklejoy, well my DD seem to be enjoying the GEP prog. and have make one best friend. I can't say for the behaviour of some of the boys that occupy her class when she has to go for her group lesson. Still has some issues to iron it out. Never have such problems in PHPPS. Do you know what, for one of her projects, they ask who she would like to invite to NYPS? Surprise, surprise her 3rd choice is PHPPS's P. Don't know what to say. Maybe to teach certain boys in NYPS to behave. So far, I have received alot of information and a two terms of activities schedule. So I can say, NYPS really keep the parents well informed. Today, drive my DD into the school (normally I don't) , well the P is still present to welcome the stds. She make my DD feel welcome with her action and presence. Hope to see DD settle down and be happy with her school life. Sorry seem to share more about NYPS here although this is PHPPS. should said :offtopic: Cheerio! -
A little episode from my dd:
First thing my dd told me when she came back was that there was no teacher in class during Social Studies lesson. I asked whether her class went havoc during that period. Her exact words, "Havoc 是没有，可是 class monitors 站到脚酸就有, and I finished reading my Amos Lee."
One of her classmates forgot to bring her SS book and borrowed money from my dd, intending to buy a new book. SS teacher only gave them one chance. In the end, she managed to find another friend from another class to lend her the book.
My dd’s conclusion, poor monitors suffered cos no relief teacher was there during SS teacher’s absence and her classmate would have wasted money buying a new book since the teacher was absent. The one most at fault is the teacher who did not have a relief.
She didn’t know the procedure of who is in-charge of allocating relief but I am appalled that no teacher was in class for a full 30 mins. Anything can happen without proper adult supervision. -

Hi mommyNg, I heard this from my friend whose son was in such class last year. I happen to bump into her during the GEP orientation day. According to her, her son enjoyed the prog very much as there are alot of outing and interesting lessons. Her son has also been selected for GEP in P4.
Hi comfy, sorry to intrude in your conversation. I'm wondering where you get the information, cos' my dd and her friends are in P3 in NYPS, but we never hear anything about the special \"GEP\" prog of class size about 25. Every P3 class in NYPS is at least 32 and more. In fact, the high ability classes have the most students (40 +- 2) leh. Also, one friend was kinda worried that her dd was in the \"low ability\" class cos' there is only about 32 students in the class...comfy:
I found out that NYPS starts so called 'GEP' training in P3. Some selected P3 students are put into 'GEP' prog & the class size is keep small about 25 unlike PHPPS expand to 40+ for top classes., so you see, they can achieve to have 50 selected gep stds. -
