My ds Chinese teacher asked us to buy the whiteboard. The board is kept in the class and will use it during her lesson. She made the boys write the hypy on the board and show her. You can get it at the bookshop at $2.50, just ask your boy to tell them “小白板“.
As for the AskLearn, sometimes the teacher will post notices, homework for the boys to do. You can log in as and when to check or if there’s any homework, the teacher will inform the boys. You can also let your boy try the interactive lessons, they are quite fun. -
has the sch done away wif exams for P1 like many schs?

My DS said that the bookshop ran out of the whiteboards so I got one from AMK central for $1.90. Had transformer pic so DS was pleased.
Re catering, I suppose there're pros and cons. I read other threads and see parents fretting cos their kids are spending money on stationery rather than food. At least in MSH they are eating. That said, I was unhappy with the misrepresentation, ie giving us a menu but not following it.
With the P's assurance that they are taking the caterer to task, I think things will improve. Also I give my DS a banana or other fruit to supplement his recess so he gets more nutrition. -

The form teacher told us to get one at the parent-teacher meeting. Mine is quite cheapo at $1.90. A4 size. I found it at AMK central near the central where this fashion and sportslink is. There were also spongebob and Ben 10. Comes with 1 marker (with a tiny duster tip) and two magnets. -

Still got many tests counted for CA and SA leh... No proper exam as in sit in hall kind but still very assessment focused. They just had their listening compre test and it was a surprise test! There's also creative writing and Show n Tell... I am getting stressed up...
-
Oh my gosh, what listening compre test was this? English or Chinese?
I must say I sometimes think having a CA is better than having so many assessments…more stressful on us parents!
Re catering, I think ds is much happier with food brought from home, even if it’s a simple sandwich. He didn’t say what his friends are getting though he said he offered some of his food to them -
u mean there is no formal SA but daily work is counted in?
to count daily work is more stressful esp for my kind of child who is very careless type…
by the way, cca is compulsory from what level in Maris? -
So far from the info from sch, there is no CA1, but there is SA1, CA2 and SA2.
It appears there’s no formal SA1 as in the boys sit down for an hr or so to do a paper. Rather there’re quizzes (3 for Maths I believe), tingxie/spelling where they take the best 4 (?) out of 6 tests, unit tests etc…
The one I’m most concerned about is Chinese cos my ds is a real kantang…Thank God the show and tell is only in Term3. For now I just need him to recognise and read aloud his HYPY–there’s an oral activity in Term 1 and another in Term 2.
