      happy to be mum:
maids maids maids...without them, our work, family, social life might be haywire especially for those parents (like me) that do not have a very strong supports from our parents, (my mum never takes care of any of my siblings' kids and i know she does not want to take care of kids so dun even want to bother her, my dad has already passed away, my in-laws dunno where... therefore to those parents who have great support from your parents (our kids's grandparent), appreciate and be very thankful to them..

seriously, our govt is not doing enough at all to encourage parents or married couple to give birth to more kids as the costs are so high, especially with the increase of the maids's salary now increasing so much.

for me, if my maid does not give me any problems, whole household run smoothly. But once she starts to give me problems, our family's life and relationship will suffer. If no maid, put childcare, also so expensive after subsidy and come back home from work, need to cook, feed the kids, guide them with their sch works, do housework, etc.. we dun have any times for ourselves, except to work, sleep, eat, take care of family and kids, no wonder people do not want to give birth!

now have two darling sons, heart still pin for a number 3 but with such lousy govt \"family support\" for us, (govt shld seriously consider to scrape the levy for those with kids) can just hope only and dun dare to try! just have to pray hard 🙏 maid don't give me too much problems and continue to work for me happily then I can also work happily. But I will still have to mentally prepare myself for a backup plan of childcare in case maid just tell me anyday she does not want to work for me anymore.
I really hope they can do without the levy, especially for families with kids/elderly.
Maybe charge us a ONE TIME levy, not a monthly levy!

Actually you get tax relief from the maid’s tax levy. I think $4000 if not wrong. Must go and have a look at my income tax statement. It’s the increased in monthly salary that’s not justified. Because whether experienced or not or whether working in big house or small house, the starting salary is $450!! Now, if our salary also increased by the same token which is in this case 23% every month, then it won’t be an issue. Will our salary also increased by 23%, I doubt very much. So the government is only interested in bringing in more foreigner. I heard that now 36% of our population are foreigners. In 2 years time, it may reach 50%. This is really interesting. I think the government should shift their focus. Shouldn’t the government be looking into helping out citizens in this area especially those without family support. That’s why I only have one kid. I can’t have another one because I have no in-laws (passed away) and my parents are still working.

Personally I hope the elections will be here soon.

Btw, my last maid was from Mymmar too. I also got her from U.Channel. My blood pressure almost burst!!! She soaked her underwear together with the whole family’s clothes. Full of discharge on her underwear, mind you!!! I have specifically told her to wash her clothes in her own bucket, don’t mix. Yet this still happens!! She’s also dirty and untidy. She can’t cook and do not know how to play with child. She was with me only 1 month. I send her back before i got an indonesia maid from another agency.

I think in the past Myanmmar maids are quite good but these days their standards has dropped. My friend’s mymmar maid worst, accused the Sir touching her!! How to win the maid??!!

My 1st Myanmar maid also cannot make it… 2nd one was transfer maid, not too bad, but also gave me problems… Got relatives here, so told me lies and got a HP without my knowledge but I managed to find out. But still she work for me for 2 years.

3rd one, worse… language got problem, cannot do simple things… In short, everything cannot. When told her I sent her back to agent, she sit down on her bed and do nothing, and see me sweep and mop the floor and wash the clothes etc. This was a REAL HEADACHE.

Cannot tahan anymore, so took a tranfer Indo maid from another agency. And this agency was nice, allow me to bring the maid to my house and see and make sure that the maid is comfortable with what she is going to do.

So far helper is okie, cannot complain so much. The govt need to do something about all this. Maids know that they are being protected, that is why they are so daring nowadays. Haiz

The tax relief for levy is calculating in this way, the total levy you paid for the year x 2. This is subjected if you have elderly (above 65) or children below 12 years old (Must be citizen)

I loved your post and have the exact sentiments but too bad can we really do anything about it

Envy envy those who have family support yet still complain & hiam. If they end us like us, nobody to turn to (not even daycare centres), except get maids then they start regret!

Is this tax relief a lot?
                Assume $170 x 12mths = $2040
Govt gonna give this amt (in cash) back to us ..... fat hope! Just another way to show they 'care' but actually say say only, no real relief nor impact on us!

                  Hi happy to be mum,

                  Hear, hear!
Agree, I am held \"hostage\" by my maid. Give me no problems, household run nicely, kid watch properly I am already very 🙏
How much money and gifts I also give her. Increase pay, a bit buay tahan already for my pocket also give.

What to do, like what you say, we got no own relative support?
                  😉

                    Hi all,

Can someone advice whether I can pay levy thru CPF? Two of my friends are paying using their CPF but the agency that I enquire on said cannot. Is thru bank giro. Any idea why is this so?

From what I know, we pay cash (thru Giro) but CPF collect the money for the levy, not so much using CPF money.
