Just sharing for P4 parents out there : I received phone call from one of the Modular CCA teacher i/c yesterday (didn catch her name), re a hip-hop activity which caused some P4 kids to complain of muscle ache problems after the activity on Thursday. According to her, PH takes a very serious view of the matter and had already dismissed the instructor i/c as PH feels the instructor has not probably not done a good job. Seems to me she practically called out the P4 parents to confirm the matter been handled somehow. Well, my kid never complained at all and dont even bother to tell me as there is no issue for him. However, feel heartened to know PH teacher is caring and thoughtful in this matter . :snuggles:

Hi Mum1113, we received the call from the FT last night as well. I understand that the instructor punished the pupils inappropriately by asking them to do holding pushup when they were noisy. one pupil injured his back as a result. that led to some parents calling in to complain to PH. so the instructor was fired. my ds also did not mention about it.

Wow guess the instructor's not really suitable to teach children. Discipline's impt, but it takes a teacher w the right passion n attitude to manage children. Gd to see PH manage this incident swiftly, but i do hope they will speak to 3rd party service providers abt handling disciplinary issues before they start. Less frustration, injuries n disruptions for all.

Will like to share a liitle bit of what I learn from my DD, is that whether GEP prog or Mainstream prog, ultimately the teacher play a very impt role. I thought that in GEP prog, the P or MOE officer always emphasize that GEP teachers are specially trained and can really teach and nurture the students. Well, it seem not so, SS's teacher so boring and Sci's teacher so fierce so now it affect her liking for the subjects. 😒 Last year in PHPPS, same thing happen, there is a new teacher and her teaching is so 'fierce' that it affect her academic result. So it would be a blessing if our kids can have good, caring and effective teachers πŸ™ (doesn't matter GEP or non-Gep).

When kids have teachers who care for them and their well-being, they enjoy the class. I hope your dd will get used tracher's style of teaching and adapt to new environment.

Eh, this wasn't what they told me when I asked them before the renovations... By the way, what does it take to be their tt club members?

What about trying Clementi Sports Complex? I'm very sure they do allow bookings...

Otherwise, looks like you've got to suggest to your condo management to get a table tennis table..
To be BT CC tt club members, ds will have to sign up the weekly training course with them. Though Clementi SC is not too far away, would've prefer somewhere within walking distance. DW suggested using the dining table but I'll sure my neighbours won't appreciate that, haha.

There is a table tennis table in one of the HDB flats near PH, but must bring your own net.

Been there, found the table's surface can't make it one. I'm afraid ds's ball sense will go haywire practising on that table.

Or you can try buying a mini tt table. this way you are able to practise with DS anytime you want and after playing, still able to fold it and keep it away. Saves space.
