Which one does she like most? Check out the activities that each of the cca have. Awards attained. Which one gives more opportunities (competitions, overseas exchange etc) Which one her friends are going? Would she mind a taxing cca? Although personally I would choose drama. Infocomm club in my school is boring. Not sure what interact club does.

Thanks twilight! Interact is actually international activity which is the rotary club for juniors. Dd says she would enjoy drama and interact equally. But drama or performing arts requires a lit if time commitment and practices during syf. Is it too much or manageable? In interact club no awards or any competition but lots of cip hours.

Is she aspiring to enter top JCs like RI, HCI and VJC? If so, CCA points is very very important. It will not be enough to get just A2, even though it grants you a -2 all the same. Since interact offers no competitions, the CCA points earned will be lesser, I assume. Unless she has a 2nd CCA. Otherwise, she can join interact if she really thinks drama is going to be taxing.

But still it is Girl Guides that my DD desires to join. We submitted appeal but was given a firm no. The HOD of CCA does not want to open door to appeal at this time as otherwise more appeals will come. We are told to only appeal after 6 mths trial. Does anyone know if the CCA points gain by DD for the 6 mths in dance will be transferable to CCA Girl Guides?

It is not so nice to mention the school, all I can say is in Sengkang.

Are students who are reserves on the school team given the same recognition as the full-fledged team members as far as LEAPS points, Colours Awards etc are concerned. If the school team wins a gold medal for instance, would the reserve also be given the gold medal and be recognized as having been part of the team that won the medal in his CCA points, given colours awards etc?

For eg Swimming relay, there are 4 in the quartet and 1 reserve. is the reserve given the same recognition as the quartet?

My girl school only accept appeal if not the first 3 choices.

Thanks for your info. It is kind of unreasonable if they don't allow appeal. My girl posted to dance and was told that the instructor is very fierce and some could not take it and cried. This kind of environment will kill the interest. Anyway we don't care what the school say and just submit in our appeal and see what is the outcome. If fail we will try again 6 mths later.

Your dd may have done very well for the dance auditions and the CCA wants her so they 'grab' her regardless of her preference. There have been cases whereby a girl auditioned for International Dance but was given Indian Dance because the Indian dance teacher liked her. She didn't even audition for Indian dance. Fortunately the girl grew to like Indian dance.[/quote]Yes, my DD's CCA in Pri is Dance. And yes she did well during dance audition (her name was taken down during audition). I am not sure if there was interview/audition for Girl Guides as well. She has no experience in GG. Does anyone know if they also select strictly for UG like GG?

So this is why your dd got into Dance. She has experience and also did well for the audition. UG does not have any trial, not many students are interested, there is no need for any experience, during the sec 1 orientation, the seniors in the UG were trying so hard to ‘sell’ their cca. I’m actually v worried my dd will be thrown into UG. For her sch, it is compulsory to choose 2 UG out of the 6 choices.
