      Mummies, pls help... 😞

My gal doesn't like to practise her weekly spelling & ting sei. I told her that she need to write at least 3 times for every word (anything wrong?) before I test her but she will always bargain with me to write once only. But when is time to test her, she will have at least 2 mistakes or more. Just recently, she repeated this again, I was soooooo angry that I cane her, beat her then I SLAP HER !!! Really regretted for my action but I was so angry mah... 😞

Can any mummy tell me how can I encourage/train her to understand that 'practise makes perfect' ? I am not angry with mistakes but is the attitude that makes me very angry.

      Thanks for any advice... !
Just to share with you what I do. I split the ting xie into 3 lots so it doesn't overwhelm my dd. Our Chinese is not as good as English so I have no tricks to make it easier to learn.

For spelling, I try to join the words to make up a ridiculous story to amuse her. The funnier the better.

My approach is to make the learning fun but it gets quite impossible as they move up. After that, no choice, they just have to be disciplined because I run out of patience, energy and ideas.

Hmm i am not so creative. I just make sure my dd learn all her spelling before i test her. If she gets a mistake i will ask her to learn all again before coming to me. So far it works fine.

Wow taking public bus is faster than taking school bus? The school bus must really be going round and round.

Taking school bus, they will arrive to school about 6:35~6:40, and my DD will spend over half an hour to chat or be in daze...

I send her to school by bus, she will arrive to school aroud 7:05...It's just on time to catch reporting time...

I let my DD to practise by herself before she come to my side...I help her to do the spelling for 2 times...if she still make mistakes, i will let her to write the right answer for 3 times.

                Hi ctct61t

I had contatced the bus operator and the conclusion is that she is not able to route to my place, guess I am left with no other choice now. Just a advise to all mummies whom dd is taking school bus - do think of a better way to send them before u stop the service. Dont be like me 😢

You may try other drivers who are nearby. When I registe my DD to school bus service, I did check the driver of Telok blangah, bukit merah, harbourfront...try to find the most suitable one. You call STTA to get the number.

Oh for chinese i got to break up the words into parts for my dd before she can learn it. She cannot learn just by looking. I need to tell her u see this word left hand side is 'ren', right hand side is something else etc before she remember it.

Now her main problem is she always mix up when to use 的 and when to use 地 in a sentence.

                        Hi all

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I will continue to see what I can to arrange for the transport.

Btw, my girl is having problems with her Maths espcially with the drawing of models. Sometimes she is able to solve her problems without the models but I know that it is impt that she must know how to draw models. Any suggestions where to have a good enrichment centre for Maths in town?
