What a coincidence! This is also ds's exact logic. He tells me eventful things that happen in sch and this is how he explains the situation too.
He already has his favourite and not-so-favourite teachers after 1 month in PH.

Will like to share a liitle bit of what I learn from my DD, is that whether GEP prog or Mainstream prog, ultimately the teacher play a very impt role. I thought that in GEP prog, the P or MOE officer always emphasize that GEP teachers are specially trained and can really teach and nurture the students. Well, it seem not so, SS's teacher so boring and Sci's teacher so fierce so now it affect her liking for the subjects. 😒 Last year in PHPPS, same thing happen, there is a new teacher and her teaching is so 'fierce' that it affect her academic result. So it would be a blessing if our kids can have good, caring and effective teachers πŸ™ (doesn't matter GEP or non-Gep).

oh dear, is it poss to communicate to her teacher? Umm, or mayb encourage yr dd dat some teachers r stern at 1st but may mellow after he/she has received full cooperation or attention fr more active student? One of my dd teacher was also v fierce but my dd tried to encourage herself that her fierce attitude was not directed at her. She told me T needed to b fierce as there wer. A few mischievous kids in class so prob had to b v stern.

Thks periwinklejoy for your concern. Well, that is what I said to her too but she said that teacher seem to be looking at everyone, hence very difficutl to think like what your DD has suggested. I think the teacher has very high expectation and expected them to be experts in doing their homework. Actually on impulse I feel like telling the form teacher regarding this but then I decide to wait a while and see whether my DD can get used to it & see whether her academic result iwill be affected. Maybe can also take this opportunity to train her to be more thick-skin and learn to accept such teachers. Seem like forcing her to mature faster.

Hey, btw, how does PH select these 6 students to represent the sch? I suppose there isn't a 'specialized' calligraphy CCA, that's why so few gao-shou from PH. But then how did your kids got selected?

My neighbour's son, also in PHPPS P2, learns Calligraphy outside the school since young, is supposed to be a gao-shou too coz his grandma said he even won in some competitions. He could rep PH if he knows?

It will be a shame if there is no one to continue and excel in this traditional Chinese art/skill in PH since it is supposed to be a sch which is rich in Chinese learnings?

Hey, sorry can’t bring my dd along though she finishes gym class together with your dd coz my son will complain that he wants to go too (baking is NOT a girl-girl thing to him!). Unfortunately I can’t afford to bring both, especially the son since CA1 will only be 1 wk away from then then … weekends are too precious for revision now … what abt the week after CA1?

Btw, hasn’t the offer from Groupon expired by now? How much is it if we buy directly from BreadTalk? It certainly sounds interesting but I thought the Icing-counter looks quite small, how many participants can it accomodate?
