QPS & NTPS maybe have lost it glory days when they were in like 1970βs to 1990βs that why not many people had been talking about. The only good one is FMPS where have reach a saturation point like balloting at 1Km in Phase 2C.Ya lor... the [Queenstown] Schools discussion section is not even as hot/fast as [Bukit Merah] Schools.
Actually I think maybe the housing at Queenstown is not as matured as those in Bukit Merah area. The houses here are really quite new due to SERs.
Hehe... There was a parent whose boy is at QPS, and she regretting sending her boy there. Desperately to pull him out. Plus my feel about QPS has never been good.
I know a parent whose 2 boys are there, very good review. Saying that the teachers are highly responsive to the parents' enquiries and will not hesitate to sms/call her when her boys did not hand-in H/W or are not behaving very well in school.
Maybe in popular primary school to have a good teacher really depends on luck. -
did the straits times on friday printed the criteria wrongly... from the MOE website for Phase 2A2 is totally different from what the straits times printed... :? :?

Hi QMS,
Sadly, according to my girlfriend, she is desperate to get her son out from RVPS! Apparently, there isn't much communication between school and parents (no answers to questions, even from the general office) and not much love for kids... work comes first. A little girl, from P1, had to wet pinafore trying to keep her pee in during exams.
My friend had heard some negative things about the school before putting her son in there, but her husband thought it would be ok. So, their son ended up in RVPS.
Of course, my friend did say that I should personally go to the school and have a look see.
Well, I think I better look elsewhere.

Hi Gin!
You will find good and not so good teachers EVERYWHERE. Hence, it may be a bit extreme to base your decision on just one case. There is no guarantee that the issues you heard from your friend will not happen in other schools. Unless you know ALL the teachers in the school and how good or bad they are, itβs a stab in the dark regardless which school you go to.
Like your friend, I suggest you make a trip to the school and see for yourself. However, this is just my suggestion. -

Wow so bad about RVPS? Can share which is the teacher & the staff? Yr friend's daughter is in which level now? -
Luanee:
Just realised that the total no. of vacancies this year has dropped drastically from 46,740 last year to 41,670 this year. Almost all the areas are affected, except for the 8 schools in Toa Payoh which still keep the same no. of vacancies as last year.
Ror Southview in CCK no of vacancies cut from 360 last year to 330 this year.... -
Hi winth,
So targetting RVPS on Phase 2C, if not succesful then attack NTPS in Phase 2C Supplementary Stage?
Yes the thread on Central, Queenstown like have quite limited discussions. I guess some of the members would be pop into \"Bukit Merah\" to talk about RVPS, QPS, NTPS etc etc. -
Hi titank!
My girlfriend's son is in Primary 2 but the little girl was in P1 and my girlfriend got to know about it through another mother who knows the little girl.
Not so nice to name the teacher, I suppose the staff just went by the book to a T.
Whatever, RVPS is out of the question for my little girl.
Just so sad for many kids when some schools (where they spend a lot of their waking hours) don't give a good impression that they are important.
That is why, I would encourage parents to reinforce the belief in them that they are absolutely significant in this world. They are indeed precious. Education is a life long learning process and they should never, ever be subjected to the idea that \"I am not that great because I do not excel in school.\" Rather they should be taught that they can be and will be great because they are continuously learning and growing.
My lament - many children, even college kids I know think \"within the box\".
My hope - to influence as many as possible (parents and children) to brave through this period and live an abundant life and don't be pressured into the \"dead end\" learning style.
I totally believe that we can all do well when attitude and environment is right. Children and adults alike. Do not be sucked into the system
To the mothers who describe themselves as \"bochap\". I think it is not that they do not care, (otherwise they won't be on Kiasu Parents.com, right? :D) but many a times they are just not sucked into the system and living a life and allowing their kids to live their lives as well. Am not surprised that they kids has turned out as an all-rounder since they have more breathing room.
Sorry, only speaking from personal experience and also from experiences of my friends. I have a girl who is already 20 this year and my 2nd is going 4 in July.
Well, so much for that! To each his/her own taste and way of getting things done. -

Yup. That's the plan alright, at least up till now.Hi winth,
So targetting RVPS on Phase 2C, if not succesful then attack NTPS in Phase 2C Supplementary Stage?
Might change also when we go down for the actual registration, depends on the response that day. -
Hi QMS,
Thanks for reply!
I totally agree with you, our worldviews should never be guided by one bad or even good experience .
It''s just that, I would move on and look for another school. Wouldn't want to experience the same thing my friend is going through - regret, despite the fact that she heard about the school before she enrolled her son into it.
So far, no system is perfect and so it all boils down to us parents to guide and nurture our kids. And even that, we can only do so much!
So, the difff. seems to be the parent factor! Good luck to all of us! Hee hee.
