cld we check if the booking has to be done via phone for membership booking? cos can't find membership rate on their web? the pacakage on the web is around $600+ per night?Yes, u need to get the Resort World membership card 1st before paying for hotel. But can get it all done on the same day. Just go to membership counter to collect card, then proceed to check in at hotel. All u need to do is just call up the reservation centre to book the hotel n date of your choice. Dun have to pay anything until u check out. But of course there will b penalty if cancel the booking.
This is also good for me, cos it can then stretch my visa payment by another month (or how advance you make a booking) cos I need not pay upfront, unlike when u buy their packages. Have to pay 1st. Can use the money for other purposes. Another of my KS doing

Membership can be done online, but u would still need to be in person at the collection centre cos u need to take a picture b4 they can issue the card to u.
The package rate u see online is already the final rate, regardless of having any membership. U may want to check buying hotel stay n entry to USS separately. Call the hotel booking hotline, ask them the room rates for members, n compare if it would b cheaper than the package. -

The Battlestar Galactica is in operation, though not officially. We were at USS on Friday and my children took a ride. Queue was not long but often break for maintenance. Both Human & Cyclon were in operation on Friday.SINGAPORE : The world's tallest duelling roller coaster, the Battlestar Galactica, is slated to re-open in Singapore by the first half of 2011.
The ride is undergoing final checks, which involves day-time stress-testing.
It has been nine long months since its shutdown. But theme park junkies can soon look forward to hurtling down speeds of 90 kilometres per hour at zero gravity force.
Battlestar Galactica, one of the main attractions at Universal Studios Singapore, was shut down just weeks after its opening this year.
On March 25 during a routine test, a failure was detected on one of the seats. No one was on the ride at the time.
But as a precaution, Universal Studios carried out comprehensive tests - including filling cars with dummies to simulate human passenger weight.
Universal Studios Singapore says hot day and cooler night temperatures affect - very differently - the expansion and contraction of metal, composite and rubber components of a ride.
These temperature swings can change the wear rates and friction levels of components. These are factors which affect operation and maintenance schedules.
The fault detected was attributed to fatigue cracks in a welded component of the seat's support structure - the part which attaches the coaster's seat to its frame.
As the fault was inherent to the design, the flaw was not detected during the computer-generated design stage of the ride. To rectify the problem, every single component of the ride has been taken apart, examined and then re-assembled.
All welded components for the seats have since been replaced with new machined parts.
Guests were excited over the prospect of the ride's re-opening.
\"Can go and have fun. Will bring my girlfriend ... here too,\" one said.
\"They'll be more willing to come because a lot of them ... don't want to come because they say the rides are not fully open,\" another said.
A third added: \"Maybe we're gonna come back next year because my daughter likes to ride on the roller coaster.\"
After the end-stage testing is completed, authorities will still have to re-certify the ride before it re-opens next year.

Took a weekend stay at HardRock Hotel and spent a hot day at USS on a Saturday. Two families, 3 kids - 4, 3 and 2. USS is small but compact, but the weather was so hot, that we felt so tried to walk around and end up dragging ourselves thru’ the few attractions (e.g. we din manage to walk into Waterworld, Anicent Egypt) . USS though has put in thoughts of having a theme park in a topical country - the queueing area is either air-con or well-ventilated. Winners are definitely Shrek 4D & Battlestar Galacticas. The Sunday was spent at the pool of HardRock Hotel - the pool is a winner too!

Yeah, the HardRock pool is several magnitudes better than the wimpy ones in the other hotels. Love the simulated sandy beach and pool.
My family loved the Shrek 4D and Steven Spielberg special effects production. Battlestar was a bit too threatening for the wimpy us. Generally, I thought USS was an overall great experience, though there are unpleasantries such as the Crane performance where I was nauseated by the smell of gasoline throughout the entire \"show\". -

Wow.. just buy the tix at the booth there with mastercard? But wkend alot of ppl, q for the rides will need longer time too..

Last weekend was real packed. Queues for the popular rides e.g. Battlestar Galacticas and Reverage of the Mummies, were reflecting waiting time of 80mins. But despite that, express lane was virtually empty. Thus, I reckon if one is there for the rides, it might be worthwhile to get the Express Pass, but it don’t come cheap at additional $68 on top of the entrance ticket … Overall, I think USS is worth the experience for the rides.
