ya…but if we know that the policies are questionable and no one voices out because of vested interest…this will be the fall of the society. We can forget about nation building. It will become —to each his own.

We just can’t wait till things happen before taking action.

The whole issue lies with the primary school registration system.
You are lucky if you qualify for phase 2A...you could fill up to 100%.
If not, try P2B, be a PV. To increase your odds, move near the school.
But, P2B also no use if 2A all filled up.
Where does this end the majority of us with?
What are the odds of all the vacancies being filled up in phase 2A? I'm not come across any school with such an occurence?

Unless .... there are so many in the sibling Phase 1? (big family. *hehe*). Bc, the parent would only need to use Phase 2A1 or Phase 2A2 once in their whole family for each school (even if you consider the 2 different genders). Once they have one child in that school, the others all go under Phase 1. So I don't think we should be putting the *blame* too heavily on Phase 2A. The only others qualifying under Phase 2A are staff of the school, and that again, is in the minority, based on my observation.

If you don't get reply via MOE website, Write(email) to Minister. Or even PM. Surely will get reply eventually. Even if it's a reply from his press secretary!

From your posts, I think everyone can tell that you're extremely concern about fighting elitism, maintaining social & religious harmony, enhancing nation building. In short, the bigger picture. As such, I don't think PV is most appropriate for you. I think you should join GRL & fight for those issues that you believed so strongly in. Who knows? Maybe you can join the constituency of our MOE minister and then he can hear your views directly from the horse's mouth.

Don't worry, PV & GRL are both given equal priority at p2b.

The whole Pri school registration sy begs review...

1.\tHome-school proximity......Is it logical for children living just next to sch not to secure a place under P2C and for another living at the other end of the island getting in under 2A?
2.\tPV......Seriousy how many PVs are blue collared workers? Do these parents not care for their children education? More likely they are working hard to feed the family, where to find time for PV?
Then wouldn't the playing field for PV ony the professionals?
3.\tPopular schools ................TUR till 2A already so high and 2B filled by kids with professional parents/assoc to clans. Where do this leave the kids with working class parents? Are they just condemn to study in neighbourhood schools? Does popular school then equate to elitist schools?
why would study in a neighbourhood school be a condemned place ? you are the one who condemns it

                        Just got to this.....

Nice try to shut me up..... 😉

My P-school ain't in existence anymore, and anyways it be >20k from where I live.
I don't think there is any attempt to silence you. I rather see it as an opportunity for you to follow thru your conviction with actions. Though your alma mater may have disappeared, you still could transfer your kids out from the sch you pv to a neighbourhood one. You have to say using words like 'abomination' to describe the PV scheme that you benefitted from are pretty over the top. After saying that, to continue to benefit from it .....

Another thing is, comparing PV to NS doesn't seem correct to me. For one, NS is compulsory and for people like us it's a responsibility. However a cursory glance at some other forums shows that some people even take it as a liability. PV is certainly voluntary and I assume that no one in their right mind will volunteer for it and then complain that it's a liability.
