I heard govt will revamp existing maternity benefits and it will be announced on 18 Feb. Is this true?

If hubby is to take paternity leave, can extend till children reach P6 ??
Fathers should help out with children's homework and coach them in their studies esp near exams. They have a share of the children right ?
Since cheaper maid levy extends until the child reaches 12, this should be applied to fathers too.

Which by the way men are entitled too. Just that from what I can see most men don't utilise those leave. The govt and grant all the leave that people are asking for but for that to be effective, there must be a paradigm shift.

Men need to step up and women need to let go. A lot of times women complain that the men don't help but when the men do help, the women cannot let go and say better that they do it themselves cos things are not done the way they want it to be done. And men stop conveniently keep using this as an excuse to leave child minding and household chores to the women.

Disclaimer : the men I am referring to do not include most of the daddies in this forum. Like I said before, Daddies here are atypical.

                    HI Funz,

If we want the MEN in the house to step up, then I guess I have to CLOSE BOTH EYES…or else it will be the case of wife cannot let go and doing it herself. When hubby mops floor, I sit in front of the PC and pretend not to see anything. If not clean enough, then I will mop another time.
When he folds the dry laundry, I coach the kids in their schoolwork. If not satisfied with the way clothes are folded, then I will sit down one day to re-fold again. At least something is done.

As an aside, do boys take Home Econs in secondary school? I think this is so must in the current society…having them pick up needle and thread, and a spatula.

Just my gut feel, if the man is willing to step up and help out in the chores at home or with the kids, the woman is more likely to be willing to have more kids.

Boys are offered technical course in sec school so far. I wonder if parents will give the go-ahead if boys are offered Home Economics, esp in all boys school.
