One more possibility and I think this is a very valid one.
some possible explanations for seemingly lesser performance by GEPpers at PSLE :
1. After securing DSA offer, slack liao, and hence did not push too hard to max out the scores. Or those who 'hot-housed' to get into GEP but come to P6...'punctured' liao....lost stamina
2. Under GEP, they are trained differently in more advanced understanding of the subject, hence may not have answered the PSLE questions in the manner SEAB expected it in the marking scheme, hence lost marks. The GEP training is very suited for sec school. In Sec one class, the teachers told the mainstreamers that GEP kids may have lower PSLE score but they would be understanding the subject at a faster pace. Hence the mainstreamers got coaching from the teachers to even out the pace of learning (these are the higher scorer mainstreamers). I think this is one key reason why sometime GEPper score lesser than mainstreamers. They probably only start learning PSLE style of questions after the P6 SA 1 (which is critical for DSA).
3. Mainstreamers who are able and wish to prove their worth work hard to max the PSLE score....not surprising especially for those who just missed being selected for GEP by the skin of their teeth....the teachers were told who are those just missed GEP selection .....

GEP only tests for eng & maths competency. I bet there are GEPers who are handicapped by chinese language. -

Hi Parents,
Let me tell you something and you tell me if you will hit the roof.
Son told me his class asked the FT (teaches EL and Science) what will be tested for CA1. She kept repeating, โWherever I stop, thatโs the chapter you will be testedโ. :x :x Canโt believe she can give such an answer. Itโs either Chap 1-4 or 1-5. For Science, I guess it should be whole of โCyclesโ to be on safe side. -

The HODs hv not decided which topics to test, therefore subj teachers cant confirm either? It's already Feb and the CA1 starts on 28 Feb. -

no need to hit the roof la....just revise from chap 1 first and go all the way to 4. whether chap 5 is tested or not, will be most fresh in the mind and could be revised quickest when the time is nearHi Parents,

the teacher just want the kids to pay attention for all chapters. if not tested in CA1 will be tested in SA1...the teacher probably don't want the kids to stop paying attention in lessons for chap 5 if she says the test is up to chapter 4 only....noting that some kids are too pragmatic
