PM Lee urges more babies in Year of Rabbit

Govt can set all sorts of rules but it is up to us to make the change. Some bright spark thinks that by staying longer in the office they will get favourable review, and the next bright spark thinking that they don't want to lose out thus stay later then the 1st one and so on and so forth. And it eventually becomes a norm. MOM already has a guideline for working hours, 44hrs/week. But if people continue to prioritise work/promotion over other stuff, there will never be enough time for anything else
But if the employer doesnโt have this kind of mind set, these \"bright spark\" will not be encouraged to do so. My boss always thinks that those who stay longer after office hour r more committed to work and favors them, these who always goes off on the dot will be deem not as hard working and hence lost out in term of promotions.
I'm always puzzles y the boss don't see those who work late as in-effective as they can't complete their work on time?? If all employers think this way, then who would wants to stay late, or should I say, who will dare to stay late. -

Who mentioned anything about neuter ?

Down with football!!
Oh dear... I am having so much fun but I rather suspect the men reading thus are turning pale green. So... no lah... we girls don't mean half of what we say here.
You married a MAN lar!
Childcare, cooking ok....but why you want to neuter him??
Women are not born to know how to look after babies. So if we can learn how to do that, the MEN should also do the same. After all, men are spared from pregnancy and child birth. -

Shared childcare responsibility between Man and Women = Yes
Deny a Man his legitimate interests (i.e. neuter) = NO
You married a man with all his warts and crazy interests, which I'm sure was part of the charm. Why would you want to turn him into a carbon copy of yourself? -

Hah, trying to legalise Paternity Leave, like in Europe.
The 4 months maternity leave (although partially paid by Gov) already give employer so much man power problem (hear say from friendโs live problem), now paternity leave, good for the daddy, but not sure if it will work.
Maybe should have free education till as far as you can go. Only if we find oil well in our waters and land, like Brunei. -

4 months maternity leave scare off employers, esp women at child-bearing age although partially paid by govt. Having paternity leave may scare employers but then I believe employers can be men too right ?Hah, trying to legalise Paternity Leave, like in Europe.

I agree with Janet Lee.

If they're scared of employing women AND men, then who will they employ? Monkeys? Maybe, they'll employ old folks (who are currently discriminated against). Fact is, if paternity leave is mandatory, then discrimination against women and old folks will stop. Every one will be on a level playing field because EVERYONE pulls childcare duty.
The reason the govt doesn't wanna go into it is not that they're afraid that employers won't hire men... it's because they wanna keep business costs low.
There is a too common perception that work-life balance costs too much. Fact is, many childcare centres employ women and the costs are kept low simply by scheduling work around the home lives of the mothers employed therein. What is to stop other businesses from doing smart scheduling?
