Are the enrichment/remedials/S&D you mentioned compulsory from P2 onwards ? My son in P5 has supp classes this year and time is so tight...if P2s have compulsory lessons as well, that would be even worse. Don't know if my daughter will be able to handle that.

They are not compulsory, but if teachers suggest that my child need remedial, I take it that they are weak in those subjects and need extra coaching. As for enrichment class, my P3 gal is taking higher chinese and I do not send her for chinese tuition. Neither can I teach language subjects, hence I prefer her to get coaching from sch teachers.

However, if I do not see improvement by Term2, I will consider private tuition - at least I can plan the timing on my part.

i heard something about .... no more affliation from CHIJ primary TPY into CHIJ TYP secondary, because many students take for granted that they can just walk easily across to next door Secondary IJ TPY ?

is it implemented this year 2011, or next yr 2012 ?
I dont think so... I think there will always be affiliation. but who knows, these days they keep changing the rules. They tried to do it once in SJI Junior recently, where they wanted to cut or diminish the affiliation to SJI (secondary) to raise standards. but there was violent objections from the old boys association and including some board members too, so they scrap the idea. I think some old boys wanted their sons to get into SJI without much hassle, to continue tradition.

I think I replied to you on another thread. to answer - no, it does not make a difference if you're from chij katong. the school only recognises ex pupils from chij tpy. even if you are from the chij secondary tpy before, that won't help either. you must be from the primary school in order to get into the chij primary tpy. you will enter at 2B coz you are catholics. but bare in mind that if you are staying more than 2km from the school, you will probably need to ballot, based on past records.

Still have affliation. Starting with the dragon kids taking PSLE 2012, the cut off is 200 & must indicate CHIJ TP Sec as 1st choice. The cut off point will be rasied further in 2016. A letter was issued last year. This applies to IJs islandwide.

Affiliation should stay. Old girls who send their daughters back to IJ will want to see their daughters continue with secondary education in IJ Sec...no reason that 'relation' with IJ sec be cut off at P6.

2016 is the year my daughter will sit for PSLE.
