So sorry I missed this thread aut!

      Yup! Smartbean from Tangs πŸ˜„
Still working well for me after 3 years!!

Now we use Meiji fresh milk to make yogurt. Yums!
      mrswongtuition:

Aut, the one with smaller jars is definitely better from hygiene point of view cos I normally sterilise a few glass bottles and spoons and use those to transfer the yogurt to keep πŸ˜„
      Thanks mrswongtuition :celebrate:

Yes, I am getting the Severin (small jars) maker soon.

Can I check how long does the yogurt last in the fridge without turning sour??

Meiji fresh milk - just tried the choco low fat version. Its yummy without being cloyingly sweet, unlike many other brands. Will switch from Marigold if DS likes the taste of the fresh milk.

May I ask what is the difference between Smart Bean's yogurt maker and Phoon Huat's? Thanks.

Phoon Huat works by hot water, regulated using a thermal container.

Smart Bean works by electricity. They control the temperature accurately. :)[/quote]Ok, thanks mrswongtuition

For home made yogurt, a week max.
Buy sticker labels so that you can label your jars.

Recently, I've been reading a lot about fish oil and how omega-3 is beneficial to you. (for example, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1086799/Is-Omega-3-fish-oil-supplement-good--load-old-codswallop.html Don't worry, I'm not here to sell fish oil to you haha!

I remember that when I was growing up, we used to drink that Scott's Emulsion that tasted terrible, but we were made to eat it anyway. So it seems maybe our parents did know something about the fish oil!

I've started giving fish oil supplements, and I'm also taking them myself. My question is this: are there any other supplements which have been shown to have positive effects on health and development, especially for children?

Definitely! My child has been taking it for the past few years and has been having good body resistance since then πŸ˜‰

not all fish oil supplements are of good quality. You need to get those with double molecular distillation, which is a process in which the heavy metals and toxins are filtered out. Fish in the oceans nowadays are exposed to high levels of pollution and are all affected to a certain extent with heavy metals and toxins.
Don't poison your family with toxin laced supplements. You can google the web on omega 3 supplements that has gone through the distillation process. If you buy it on the web, it is a lot cheaper than buying it locally.

My kid just started on Colostrum 4 Kids with Probiotics - Childlife, bought at GNC.

Doesn’t need to take very much a day. Just 1/2 a teaspoon. So very easy to feed this to my fussy eater. And one bottle can last for some time.

To add on to my post above, I have also put her on other products by the same brand.

                        Vitamin C Liquid
                        Echinacea
                        Cod Liver Oil
                        Pure DHA

They are all in liquid form and only require a small dose every day (eg. 1/2-1 teaspoon). So very suitable for my fussy girl. The liquid form can mix with her drink or something.

Most other brands provide gummies. It's going to be challenging for me to feed that to my girl. 😒 Since her first month, she already developed a very stubborn character when it comes to feeding -- shut her mouth very tightly when she didn't want milk anymore. So if I buy gummies supplements, I will end up eating them all

So the ChildLife's ones are prefect solution for me. Expensive though. But for my girl who has been sick, I just have to invest lor. kiasuparent mah. πŸ˜‰
