it is our experience that school's prep for MO is insufficient - even for the 'select' group under AMEC - inadequate and insufficient exposure
  It does make sense for your saying so ...thank you, verykiasu2010verykiasu2010:
starting math olympiad too early may result in :-
1. loss in interest due to more effort needed to understand questions of higher difficulty pitched at P5 / P6 level....child will lose interest if always \"don't understand\" .......
2. burnt out by the time competition are in P5 / P6
IMHO, starting in P4 would be alright and build the interest from foundation onward
Caveat : every child is different
if your child is truly passionate about math, invest in systematic math training, not just in MO. There are also courses conducted by NUS SMS... held in June / Dec, $150 for 5 mornings over a week -

Agree! Like what you said, we try our best to build son's interest from foundation of math.

NYPS affiliation is only for the girls going to NYGH - cut off point is 250.Hi,
My gal is currently in PHPPS P2, and I started thinking about whether to transfer her to pri schools with affiliation to sec school e.g MGS. Not sure if this is worth it, but I was told that 2 of her friends are considering transfering to NanYang! I read that the cut off points for reputable sec schools are at least 150 and above.
Boys from NYPS has no affiliation
your quoted 150 must be a mistake -
IMHO = in my humble opinion

What about PH most on-the-wrong ball award?hey...if do all, maybe end of the year the school presents him a Most Hardworking Student Award....

but serious, intensive training should start in P4...P3 too early liao...basic foundation ok to start P2/P3... -
janet_lee88:
Does that mean that come P3, I must keep all of ds's science text till P6?
For CA1/SA1/SA2, there will be questions tested from P3 to ensure the student still remembers the concepts...however students will
be informed...except that I didn't hear this from son's teacher this time.
