Hi Parents,

For Science, I guess it should be whole of 'Cycles' to be on safe side.

Hi Janet,
my dd wrote down the followg as the scope for Science CA1:
Cycles:
Unit 1 - Heredity
Unit 3 - Water Matters
P4: - Life cycles of plants/animals
- Light
- Heat
- Magnet
P3: - Living and non-living things

That means all previous topics will be tested in CA1 and it applied to P4 also, right?
For CA1/SA1/SA2, there will be questions tested from P3 to ensure the student still remembers the concepts...however students will πŸ™ be informed...except that I didn't hear this from son's teacher this time.
Remembered My Gal Told Me, for Sc, everytime will has a few Q come out from previous years topics ....
So For P5, at least for Her Last Year .... P3/P4 topics will Make a GUEST Appearance ....

Hi,

My gal is currently in PHPPS P2, and I started thinking about whether to transfer her to pri schools with affiliation to sec school e.g MGS. Not sure if this is worth it, but I was told that 2 of her friends are considering transfering to NanYang! I read that the cut off points for reputable sec schools are at least 150 and above.

NYPS affiliation is only for the girls going to NYGH - cut off point is 250.

Boys from NYPS has no affiliation

your quoted 150 must be a mistake

150? :?
think Not Even Qualify for Normal Academics (5 year Sec School) Stream ....

For many pple, the ans would be a resounding yes.

The main purpose of PSLE is to get into a band 1 sec sch mah.

Even if one is confident of one's kid academic accomplishment, there's still the risk of 'ma you shi ti' (read as 'horse can fall down', see I'm not going to risk translating it to chinese characters anymore). πŸ˜‰

And there's really no harm if one is excellent academcially and studying in an affliated sch at the same time. It's like I go IR. Heads I win, tails I also win!

but is affiliation that important?
Have seen a Fair Share of Students transfered out of PH, and other Schools w/o Affiliation to those that have ....

Most got ONE Simple Reason ....
Pri Schools students from Non-Affiliated Sch has to Fight with ACTUAL PSLE Score to these Schools, while those from Affiliated Pri Get to Enjoy A Few Points Advantage when time comes for Sec 1 Admission.

Many of the Parents R Worried that their Kids results, Being Not on the Star-Spangled Range, Might B Sent to Sch Not Within their Choice ....

So, In A Way, Can \"CHOP\" a Place in the Affiliated Sec Sch, provided of course that the Result is Not Too Far Off the Cut Off ....

And MINUS One Headache when it comes time for Join School Admission Excercise for Sec 1 ....
