          Happy Mama:

I let you know tomorrow. Need to find my copy of magazine to check. I got my first copy this year, not through online, but through subscription during a bookfair held in one of the primary schools before Chinese New Year.
          Thanks Happy Mama 😆

Singapore stores too exp for the Horrible and Murderous series - S$16 each. Buy the whole set online from UK is cheaper about S$2-3 before freight.

As for AsianGeo Junior.. I like it.
Ok, will take a look at IMM Popular first before buying. Thanks Trapwithin.

the range for a A grade is very wide.....a low A, mid-A, high A is a big gulf between them

Yah I know, ranges from 75-89 rite? It's just that the chart I saw outside their ctr tabulated the % of tutees scoring at least A vs national ave which currently stands at around 44%. Theirs is almost double the national ave which makes it look so impressive.

someone posted in this forum that a 4As kid could have less than 200 in T-score, could not even get into Express stream

while school like SCGS used to set cut off at 200, it is now raised to 220, and higher progressively; while a kid with 4 high As could be touching 240+ in t-score.....
The amazing thing abt SCGS is that though they accepted affliated students at 200, come O' Levels they can still achieve Band 1. Just imagine if they raise the bar for admission, next time maybe can fight with RGS/NYGS to be top dog.

i wonder 4-5 years down the road, what will the cut off point look like ??

Popular IMM has Horrible Sci. You can bring ds there to try reading it before deciding whether to buy

Thanks Trapwithin. We go IMM fortnightly and the 'force' will draw me towards Popular everytime 😆

              Hi markfch,
You feel the 'force' to walk towards Popular too ? Much as my brain doesn't want to step into Popular, my legs don't seem to 'listen' and ultimately I see myself inside 😢
For Horrible Science, son has the 'Body Owners' Handbook' and 'Blood, Bones and Body Parts'. I find the books interesting esp the first title.

My girl borrows Horrible Science from the NLB. Old and tattered but she doesn't mind. We also have church friends who subscribed NG Kids and she borrowed them to read. Her cousins will pass her all their old and new copies of Young Scientists which she will devour one set of 8 in one single night and re-reads them again whenever she has the time. We are members of Science Centre so we get the Science Centre mag delivered. The whole idea is to be interested and read.

                    verykiasu,

If the bar is drawn at 270, then the teachers would be teaching just a small handful. I will also pity the girls if it is so. 250 is not easy to achieve.

St Andrews’ Sec takes in all the boys from junior at 180 points…that’s the way it should be for affiliated secondary, same goes for other affiliated schools. Along the way, take in foreign students to boost its O level grades.

Hey same situation here. My son doesn't like to read while I can read anything from pamplet inside my cosmetic to instructions on the tube of cream. He asked to buy the Geronimo book and I was really happy doing so. But he bought it bcos his friends have the book :x
