Hey same situation here. My son doesn't like to read while I can read anything from pamplet inside my cosmetic to instructions on the tube of cream. He asked to buy the Geronimo book and I was really happy doing so. But he bought it bcos his friends have the book :x
Same!! My DH tried to say that most boys are like that, but DS2 is like me... we read everything from advertisements on vehicles to cd covers etc.. I had initially planned to get DS1 to start reading the papers at Pri 1, but he wouldn't even try to read the headlines!! :x how to improve without reading?!?! -
Mrsbongz:
wow, i really envy all of you.. my DS has to be forced to read.. he likes to borrow and buy books, but tells me straight that he hates reading..
complete opposite of me.. sigh.. He recently just asked to buy a geronimo stilton book, happily bought for him, then when i asked, he said he bought becos the frens are reading.. hopefully he will be more encouraged to read when he sees his frens reading..
Don't say liddat lah, Mrsbongz. My ds is only child, it does get lonely sometimes for him. So reading is a good way of letting him pass time. -

Parents are sucked into Popular. HaHaHa.
I think Popular got this effect on lots of parents :>. Must be some kind of powerful voodoo they have, haha.janet_lee88:
Hi markfch,
You feel the 'force' to walk towards Popular too ? Much as my brain doesn't want to step into Popular, my legs don't seem to 'listen' and ultimately I see myself inside
For Horrible Science, son has the 'Body Owners' Handbook' and 'Blood, Bones and Body Parts'. I find the books interesting esp the first title.
Ok thanks for the Horrible Science recommendation. Will take a closer look at \"Body Owner's Handbook\".
IMM is one place where my brain and legs don't coordinate...brain says, 'Don't step in'. Legs say, 'Just take a look'.
I find 'Body Owner's Handbook' a good introduction to Science and body functions...rather fun and interesting to read, nothing academic.
Got the 2 other books from last year's BookFest (20% discount). -

I work near Bras basah.. n the bookshops and popular here is really tempting!! i can spend hours there!! I always end up buying activity books and stuff for the boys!! I think the popular card discount should be higher for parents like us!! we spend too much $$ there!!

TIA.[/quote]yes, 2 options....scholastic UK ships directly to Singapore or you can choose to ship by VPOST Europe....Since VPOST does not allow consolidation, it is easier to ship directly from Scholastic....The charges are shown while checking out...You can try out how much is your shipping charges before the confirmation...

Agree! I spent alot since Dec till now. Danger of being too free and somehow Popular and Harris seem to be calling \"Happy Mama, come visit us\"... :rotflmao: -

Thanks, I'm looking at their promotion pack of Horrible Science, History and Geography but it's currently out of stock.
Php, have you ever ordered directly through them? If yes, how long is the estimated delivery time? -

I think the Popular card should be amended to allow parents to accumulate points like Passion card. We spend so much $$ there every month. But try telling this to a management which doesn't believe in honouring what is in BLACK AND WHITE.
