Yup...I looked after my bb myself too...but my 1st maid was really good. No maid after her is anywhere close to her in terms of hygiene and committment.
I had one ex-maid who worked for me for over 2 years. I found out after I sent her away, that she ran away from her previous employer, leaving the new born baby alone at home.
OMG, i not even dare to ask my maid to look after my baby at night, i am the one who need to wake up few times to feed my baby.Anna Ng:

Hubby's colleague had a Filipino maid who ran away in the middle of the night. The embassy called the employer to go to the embassy the next morning. COMPLAINT made by maid is - Maid is left at home to look after bb all the time. Is the maid here to enjoy life or work ?
I knew nothing about this when I employed her. The maid agency knew about this, and they knew I needed her to look after my baby, but they still recommended her.
Maid agencies are a bunch of heartless people. -

That's terrible.

Hopefully she's a good influence.
She certainly is. In fact, I need to learn from her. She has very good work ethics.
My maid is over 40 years old, more than 10 years of working experience in Singapore. She is the one influencing other maids.tamarind:

That's good. At least she can think for herself. Sometimes the maids talk to one another and the less logical ones get led astray by the others. Mine is easily influenced by others, not thinking logically.

Actually you can't hide the newspaper from the maid. When they meet other maids outside, they will also talk about it. Unless, your house don't subscribe newspaper, you don't let her go out to run errands and she has no off day, and you dispose the rubbish yourself then maybe it's possible to hide from her.
Agreed! My new maid of one month told me that the maid from a few houses away always talked to her and asked her how is her ma'm. I think she is trying to stir up trouble cos I recently sent my maid home for stealing money and for wearing my clothes. Maids tend to share gossips behind our backs. Any advice on how to handle this?
I have spoken to my maid and even shared the newspaper article with her. We also discussed on the underaged maid who threw the 12 years old girl down. She can tell me that the maid was underaged and cannot cope. The news was in the paper before she joined my family. See how good their grape vine is. -
my maid went on home leave 2 months before end of contract with her promise to return back and work for another 2 years.. But she never turned up at the airport on the date of arrival .
we felt so cheated as we had in acceded to her request to go back so that she could celebrate her father's birthday and in good faith loaned her a luggage & purchased return tickets & some pocket money .
if anyone out there are considering hiring a maid named Felgelyn Regidor from the Philippines .. BEWARE .. !!. :x -
maybe something pops up and her returns is delayed?

If something did crop up she could have called.

Ya, I think it was already the maid’s intention not to return. This happen to a colleague of mine. She let her go back annually. On the third year, the maid went back and never returned. My colleague could not reach her maid. Agent finally managed to find maid’s brother who told her that maid went back to get married and does not intend to come back. The maid is also a Filipino.

this is pretty common for maids to break their promise.
some years ago, mine didnt show up at airport, didnt call. after nearly a month of searching. finally found her and realised she was hospitalised, went for appendx op. her family was unable to contact me cos’ she never told them my house and hp no. but she did returned to us eventually after adequate rest.
dont forget, during this period of missing in action, we are still paying for levy cos’ we dont know if she is coming back or not or shoudl we go hire another one. but we can always claim back the levy so no issue there. just that the anxiety and uncertainty of our next move is a big headache.
