Yup. That's the plan alright, at least up till now.
Might change also when we go down for the actual registration, depends on the response that day.

I totally agree with you, our worldviews should never be guided by one bad or even good experience . It''s just that, I would move on and look for another school. Wouldn't want to experience the same thing my friend is going through - regret, despite the fact that she heard about the school before she enrolled her son into it.

So far, no system is perfect and so it all boils down to us parents to guide and nurture our kids. And even that, we can only do so much! :lol:

So, the difff. seems to be the parent factor! Good luck to all of us! Hee hee.

My girlfriend's son is in Primary 2 but the little girl was in P1 and my girlfriend got to know about it through another mother who knows the little girl.

Not so nice to name the teacher, I suppose the staff just went by the book to a T.

Whatever, RVPS is out of the question for my little girl.

Just so sad for many kids when some schools (where they spend a lot of their waking hours) don't give a good impression that they are important.

That is why, I would encourage parents to reinforce the belief in them that they are absolutely significant in this world. They are indeed precious. Education is a life long learning process and they should never, ever be subjected to the idea that \"I am not that great because I do not excel in school.\" Rather they should be taught that they can be and will be great because they are continuously learning and growing.

My lament - many children, even college kids I know think \"within the box\".

My hope - to influence as many as possible (parents and children) to brave through this period and live an abundant life and don't be pressured into the \"dead end\" learning style.

I totally believe that we can all do well when attitude and environment is right. Children and adults alike. Do not be sucked into the system

To the mothers who describe themselves as \"bochap\". I think it is not that they do not care, (otherwise they won't be on Kiasu Parents.com, right? :D) but many a times they are just not sucked into the system and living a life and allowing their kids to live their lives as well. Am not surprised that they kids has turned out as an all-rounder since they have more breathing room.

Sorry, only speaking from personal experience and also from experiences of my friends. I have a girl who is already 20 this year and my 2nd is going 4 in July.

Is the teacher now in P1 or P2? At least can evaluate it before I consider for RMPS.

Sorry for late reply, been busy with work.

I really don't have much choice at the moment as all schools are closed for the school holidays. I suppose I will go around to different schools to survey the environment when schools reopen.

Does anyone know how long (time frame) I should be living within 1km range before I enrol my child to the Primary School of my choice? :? Of course, that does not guarantee that my child will get a place in that school.

Too many confusing rules for this newbie to the education system. :? :? :?

But we have been viewing flats in Sin Ming and don’t like the area. Now we are looking at flats in Bishan but they are damn expensive! I have been playing with the idea of staying in Bedok and try for Red Swastika. But it doesn’t help when I learn of the reduced place there.

What would you guys do if you are me?!

Maybe you can check out those older flats in Bishan St 11/12? Or check out other areas eg Ang Mo Kio? I think prices may be cheaper but not going to be cheap too.

I've a friend also an old girl of Ai Tong, and she lives in Sembawang. Enrolled her son into Ai Tong and the child has to travel 1 hour to school and another hour back by school bus :!:

She's looking around to get a place near Ai Tong now as she has younger children who would be going to the same school in future.

Like what Aquarmarine said, don't waste your phase 2A chance cos it's really a big hassle enrolling in other phases at other schools, esp popular ones like Red Swastika.

It seems that this school is getting to be very popular.
One of the main reasons for choosing this school is that my kid can walk to school by the park connector.

I'm staying at Block 276. One of the reasons that I'm choosing Beacon is because my kid can go to school by the park connectors from my place. There is no need to cross any road. So are you going to the open house on 11th July?

I'll be out of the country on work on that day! I'll probably get my dh to take the kids there to just see the place. But do you think the open house will take place? Beacon has suspended its morning reading programme due to the H1N1 and this may also become a casualty of the same.

So you are very close to the place! We live in Lompang road in Block 175.

I also got my letter from the school about my 40 hours so I am guessing (and hoping) my admission in 2B is a done deal!
