Hello all,

Is your child 's teachers understress already?

Yesterday, ds came back and told me one of the soft spoken teacher has started screaming at them in class .I asked why, he mentioned some din hand up the work. So, in the end, for the smallest thing, the teacher also got very agitated.I think the stress is getting into the teacher.

I wonder does your kid face such?

        Regards

          Hi Leanne

Wow. Now is only February and bigger stress is yet to come. May be the hm given was over the capacity that the child can handle as they are tired after the busy schedule. So far not heard of this issue from dd, I think either they are already immune to it or their work load still have not ramp up yet. .

I guess this is the first year this teacher heading the top class, usually she is taking the second class, so maybe there is expectation. And her second best class last year did worst than third class. So, maybe that is where the pressure comes from.

Actually, it takes two hands to clap.If the students do well is a bonus, if its not, may have to examine why.Not every child can take shouting and screaming.I am pretty surprised a loving caring teacher has turned to a tiger over night.

I do agree that as an adult they should try to control their emotional rather than pass on to the poor child who may not able to take it and resulted the negative effect. BTW, how many subjects she is teaching?

BTW, are our kids supposed to know 成语 for PSLE? I saw a book on 成语 for PSLE in Popular and wonder if it was an outdated publication as I couldn't find the date of publication on it.

Read Somewhere that to Secure a Good Score (A*) for Chinese Compo, Rough gauge is to put in 8 成语 in, Then Got Very Good Chance!

                Hi Funx3,

:!: 8 成语 to score A* in CL compo??? :faint: Don't think DD can come up with that many 成语 in 1 compo. Think I better start exposing DD to more 成语 and hope she uses the right ones in the right context for PSLE. :xedfingers:
Thanks for sharing but if they are to use it inappropriately... :nailbite: :clubmyself:

So I still do not think it is advisable unless they really understand the idioms well and know when and how to use it. :xedfingers:

Science is not DD's forte so I hope that there's enough time for her to process all the new knowledge later in the year. DD usually loses marks in MCQ and does better in Section B. :scratchhead: Heard from friends that their kids are the opposite....can get full marks for MCQ and loses marks in open-ended questions. What about your kids? Do they fare better in MCQ or Open-ended questions?
Reading this creates much anxiety in me and ds. Doing well for section B is really something !!
Will tinkerbelle share how it's done ?

Always remind ds for CL picture compo, make sure write out as per what the pictures dicpict. Dont create own storyline and become out-of-picture !
For continuous writing compo, follow closely the introduction and underline key words to help develope story line, in case get carried away and ended with out-of-point .
Must learn from you pple to get ds to keep simple chengyu in mind, easy to understand and use them as relevant as possible , cheers 😉

In addition, lots of wrong characters... so will lose 1/2 mark for every wrong character. :slapshead:
Really ?! Is it true every wrong chinese character means losing 1/2 mark !
Omg, that may mean a lot for ds even with dictionary beside him 😢

Last year, my dd got 1.5 marks deducted for three wrong characters in compre.

Heard from one of the teacher that is better to write at least 2 pages for normal CL and 2.5 pages for HCL.

Also have to leave at least 5 minutes to run through and correct those wrong characters. Time really not enough lah. When they are hurried, 太 mixed up with 大,少become 小, 贪 write as 贫 etc
