do you think it is advisable to use electronic dictionary at P1 level? it is better to teach the kids how to check the dictionary manually rather than via electronic mean....Hi, couldn't access the approved dictionary list on PHPPS website. Anyone can advise which Chinese dictionary I should get for ds?
I went to Popular IMM to get the one posted by Jennifer back in 2009 but could not find it. Bought a picture dictionary instead but realise the words covered are limited.

You are referring to electronic dict? Can P1 use those in sch?My DD bought Creative PX2101 from school when the vendor came over to sell last week. Quite useful so far and my DD loves using it... and it's not expensive. Only $42.

Oh yes, and it's approved model for PSLE.

Yes, the electronic dictionary.. I'm not sure if P1s can use electronic dict in school. My DD started using only now at Pri 3...

not sure if it is advisable but i personally prefer ds to learn how to use a book dict. Also, His CL enrichment ctr wants ds to bring 1 to class next week so have to buy.
Just wondering, is there a diff btw old and new version? I still kept mine from sec sch days and find it very easy to use, not too thick like those in the market now but as comprehensive, just words are small. -

just words are small.
If the character is too small, there is a high chance of copying wrongly esp for those with lots of strokes. We hv a magnifying glass at home for this purpose
I dun encourage e-dict as it wld never replace the comprehensiveness of the book dict. At home, we hv the CL dict, EL to CL translation dict and CL to EL translation dict. CL dict alone ranges from lower pri std to upper pri std.
I am also slowly relinquishing my role as a talking dict. -
