        yes you can

go MOM online to apply for approval-in-principle, must have the maid passport details, etc and once in SG, must comply with medical etc ...

Oh my gosh! Just caught my maid, leaving my home with the main door and gate open. After standing at the gate for about 1 minute or so, she coolly strolled up the stairs. Didn't seem frightened to see me standing there. In fact, I think I was more shocked than her. When questioned on why she left the home with the doors open, she coolly said that she was only standing at the stairs for a while :x, refused to admit what else she was doing. This comes after she \"under-declared\" her hongbao money... though I subsequently found a used phonecard and $10 cash on her... at least another $30 to $50 still unaccounted.... she still claims that she had lost it and does not know the amount cos she didn't open the hongbaos 😐 She also insists that the phonecard was given to her by another maid. Now, her actions make me so suspicious that she has done more than just \"under-declared\" her hongbaos. Very defiant and unrependant, she only apologised after I scolded her and made her admit that she was at fault. Am already wary and have advised all in the family to keep watch over their cash and valuables.

Heard that more expensive (salary and agency fees) to employ maids now. What is the situation now?

Am keeping my options open, just in case, can't trust this maid though she has been a good worker for the past 4 months. She still claims that she wants to continue to work, but am quite convinced that she is a habitual liar... In the meantime, am changing my routine and keeping her in the dark about it.

            Hi,

            Need some advice/ suggestions.

My maid of 4 years is due for renewal this year. This morning she approached me. She would like to continue to work for us but she hope that she can hold on the hp. Reason is that she does feel lonely and wants to stay connected with her cousins/ stay in contact with family. This I feel is reasonable.

However, my previous maid of 5 yrs change signifcantly after we allowed her to hold the hp. eg. frequent 30 mins toilet break, etc… it came to a point that we were no longer happy with her.

My current maid knew of this from the start and that was the key reason why we do not allow her to hold a hp till now. Her cousin can call her at our house, etc… and she can use those call card to call home. So to allow her to hold the hp, she know what a struggle we have to go through after our bad experience.

I feel that if I were to allow her to hold hp, there are some ground rules that we need to be align to. I am thinking of what ground rules should be appropriate now and need suggestions.

Some areas to consider I thought was :
            * Time of usage. eg. no hp after 11pm. She usually go to bed together with the kids by latest 10.30. Some form of performance measurement here would be cannot wake up late and hence kids are late for school.

            * No hp usage during daytime.

            * She can hold her hp while she is waiting for my kids during their enrichment classes. Eg. nothing to do, she can use that time to catch up. But it should not because of hp, she neglect safety on the road or is late in picking them.

            * Any others?

I treat her like an adult and she know I am not the type that like to say her. Both of us won’t enjoy it or be happy with it.

              Dear all,

MOM now has a new website that shows more data about maid agencies, which may be useful for employers selecting maid agencies.

Ministry puts maid agency data online (18 Feb 2011)

One, I cannot believe that only 4 months she can be so yahyah already. Sorry, I'm being evil, but if you don't intend to keep her, once her loan end - just send her back immediately. Don't let her transfer.

Yes, don't ever let her catch on what your routine is - element of surprise is always good.

Two, I think you got to think of backup plan. What is your maid's motive to come to SG to work? for her family? If so, maybe remind her constantly in subtle ways. Talk about her family and how wonderful when its time to return and how much she can do with the money she's earned. I like to feed my maids stories about those maids who went back to buy land, build house etc - keep their focus on their goal. A bit boh liao, but I can't think of anything else.

At my fren's place, the door is electronic lock - no key. Maid does not hold the key and she has no clue what the combination is. She can go out (escape in times of emergency) but there's no way to come back in. During night times, they can activate some alarm so if the door was opened (even legitimately), the alarm will ring very loud. Not sure if this will help.

                  thanks for the quick response!

if she gets pregnant, i will lose my 5000sgd deposit? sorry first time employer here and my maid is ex singapore twice, so very \"smart\". DH is not fully with my suggestion to let her go as \"nothing has happened yet\".
If she gets preg, I don't think you will lose your 5K deposit. That will happen only if she delivers in sg or goes missing right?

Gosh, you have given her so much freedom and she cannot handle it?

Maybe next time you see so many love bites, you would want to consider to bring her to the doctor's to examine the bites/rashes. Bring back pamphlets on STDs so she can read.

Different men some more. I think she came into SG under the wrong vocation. 😛

Can anyone advise what is the basic neccesites like toiletries are we required to supply the maids according to our contracts? Anyone have a daily schedule for routine work for your maid to share? Juz employed a Mynamar maid and wondering how to advise her on my daily rountine as communication is one barrier. In the past, I have filipino maids and I juz tell them to write down themselves what are the daily routine themselves based on their own observations and my instructions. Now with a new maid with communication barrier for me, I wonder how to and where to start off :?

Strictly maid are not suppose to carry HP, they would defintely neglect the safety of the children (Eg crossing the road & the safety of the children is affected). In additon, this would also the output performance of her work.

For our case, the hp is in our possession. Maid would report to get from us after finish all the work at the end of the day.
