      Hi to all P1 parents.

As we all know, MA1 is approaching. Although we have the scope of the test, any ideas/ suggestions on how we can better prepare our kids?

For example English - they will be tested on the first 4 books, but what will we use to revise? Similarly for math, the scope is numbers 1-10 but what do we revise?

My girl in class 1B, she hardly brings back her math & eng activity workbook etc, as such I do not know where she has progressed to???

any suggestions? my fren told me to start buying other school’s exam paper to start practicing but I am reserving that option for now. What are your views? Thanks

it is no longer call 'Exam'. School have re-named it into 'assessment'.
You can still buy other school 'assessment' paper from other school.

Word bank is for use in school and at home to record new words learnt. My son has some entries already.

According to my child, he can only record words into the word bank book if instructed by teacher and cannot anyhow input words.

According to the school handout on the assessment in end March, for English we need to revise all the things from unit 1 to 4 and for maths nos. 1 - 10 and for chinese; all the han yu pin yin they have learnt so far. Thus, its to revise with them all the things they have learnt. Hope I am on the right track. Anyone have any comments on my assumption?

I checked with the teacher if I cud get him to put words learnt at home down too. And she said yes...

My son is in class 1B. I agree with hotspurs that class 1B hardly brings their work for us to check. In fact, they hardly have any homework. I have also not heard / seen anything about wordbank.

For English, there were grammer topics covered from units 1 to 4. We need to revise that as well. Does anyone know if the teachers will return the SBA worksheets?

I remember the English HOD told us we need to buy the Grammar book which is to be used till P2 but todate, we have not heard anything yet. The SBA worksheet actually makes reference to the book.

Has any parent heard anything about the Grammer Book ?

My child told me that he is sharing the locker with a classmate. Not sure that is true. Also, the word bank should be used for inputting both words learnt in school and at home? Thus, its for their own learning and record purpose and not so much for use in school, am I right? And with regards to the Chinese Book Review, my child brought back a set of papers with the 1st page having columns that require them to write the story they learnt at school and tell us parents about it then we sign to acknowledge that the child has told us the story. The rest of the pages seems to be the titles of books they read and write on review on one particular book that they like most (i guess) which consists of many similar pages. Sorry, not very good in mandarin thus not sure if I read correctly. Thus can some parents enlighten me on it. Thanks in advance.

Well, the locker thingy is a mystery... cos my girl doesn't have one whereas some have and some are sharing... so I am really confused as to what is the norm... supposed to have or not?? Why there is such inconsistency?

Gave kiddo lock for locker aft all. Seems that the teachers are controlling usage eg. can go to lockers only at certain times. Asked him to dump grammar book, art & civics stuff inside. 🙂

Such a bummer, exams. But nothing new right? MA is like CA1. Nothing has changed. 😜 More worried abt kid's rampant carelessness. Topics not so hard eg. numbers 1-10 only. Anyway booked holiday in March. So will have to start revising asap i guess.

Kid also asked me for NLB card to borrow books fr school library until student pass issued.

Does anyone know if problem sums will be covered in the first MA? Examples were given in the exams notice posted on PC website...
I think better to be prepared for simple problem sums like what they are doing now...
