Agree…Found myself more stressful than my girl. My girl surprise me with the good result for her math. I thot this is her weakest subject. But she didn’t do well for her english MA. Her grammer is weak. JIA YOU… must spend more time practice grammer with her.
Hi ladies,

my DS, born in 2006, suppose to register next year for P1 in 2013..
last month i juz called up the school to check on the PV...
to my surprise, it's already closed for children born in 2006...
that's a bit too early isn't it ??

we stayed within 1km from PC...
but as i'm not a local and DH's old school was long closed down...
so we will definitely be in P2C...

any advice from mummies here whether i should try my luck in P2C ??
is the demand always way greater than the available slots ??

Well, many schools started their PV programme 2 years in advance... Ai Tong and Anderson are some that I heard of. It's slowly becoming a norm I think...

The choice is yours whether to try... and no one knows exactly what kind of situations it will be when the time comes. Demand is definitely going to be more than supply, it's a matter of how much more.... So my advice is keep your options open, source for a few other schools and do some homework in the meantime.

ya, we are now looking into Hong Wen...
though a bit far...but not too far from TPY...
DH said this is his next choice of school after PCPS...
Hong Wen is also a popular school. Need ballets within 1 km for phase 2C.
Can any parents from 1F let me know what the kids do during the art classes pls?? Cos my girl said they didn't do much. She said she spent the time talking to friends .... How can that be right?

Hi Callie,

So far, my DD has brought back 2-3 pieces of art work from school, my last known was they are using dot to form a drawing.

Yes she did bring back 2-3 pieces of art work but this week she said she did nothing. And I thought they did something for CNY but I didn't see anything on that too. This morning my girl told me she redo the dot-dot drawing again in art class yesterday because she's not satisfied with the previous piece. I am wondering can like that meh?
My girl told me that for CNY, they make cards to decorate the classroom.
i suppose, since it is for decoration that why nothing bring back.

Yup.. my girl did bring back a few pieces of drawings and one of them is drawings the dots.

Hi to all P1 parents.

As we all know, MA1 is approaching. Although we have the scope of the test, any ideas/ suggestions on how we can better prepare our kids?

For example English - they will be tested on the first 4 books, but what will we use to revise? Similarly for math, the scope is numbers 1-10 but what do we revise?

My girl in class 1B, she hardly brings back her math & eng activity workbook etc, as such I do not know where she has progressed to???

any suggestions? my fren told me to start buying other school's exam paper to start practicing but I am reserving that option for now. What are your views? Thanks

Ah... I thought P1 no more exams... other schools still have exam papers ?

it is no longer call 'Exam'. School have re-named it into 'assessment'.
You can still buy other school 'assessment' paper from other school.

Hi...

Like to check whether any of your kids are assigned locker in school? Just now when I sent him to school, he asked me to go to the book shop to get a lock for him. I asked him whether he has a locker, he said no.

Thanks!

My girl told me they do not have individual locker or shelf but the teachers do have a cupboard to keep the books/worksheets etc for the kids in each classroom...

My girl also asked me to get a lock but after some questioning, she said it was because a friend of hers had this number lock so she wanted to have one too... So mayb you ask you son why he needs the lock....

My girl also want me to get a lock for her. She told me that she was given a locker where she can put all her colour pencil/crayon and art and craft things.

a) My girls have recieved the Grammer book.

b) Yes. It is stated in one of the briefing note that mon, tue & fri are english story book, other day, bring chinese book

c) So far, all worksheets are done and return back to the teacher. Some of the worksheet need parents signture. After signing, dd will bring back to school for the teacher to keep.

Don't know about the SS, CME and music period.

Thanks for the reply... I supposed there's no homework for Grammar book right?

Yup. No homework for the Grammer book yet.

The principle said during the briefing that P1 and P2 will be in the same class.

P3, he will reshuffle it. But how he going to band it, he didn’t said. I guess it should be based on their grades.

For P5 banding, the grading system can be found in the pupil diary.

Band 1 - 85 -100

Band 2 -70 -84

Band 3 - 50 - 69

Band 4 - 0-49

For those who failed the subject, need to take up the foundation subject.

Callie Tan:
Also, may I know how does Pei Chun decide P2 classes? Will there be a banding exercise to determine the better students go into the same class etc?

No. The banding exercise will be at P3 and P5.
