Who decides the COP? Individual schools? If a student scores more than the COP then is there a guarantee that he/she will get into the school or is there again a dependency on the number of vacancies?

Hi it doesn't work the way you describe. It is NOT \"determined\" upfront. Instead, the COP is the PSLE score of the last student who is allocated a place in the school.

What this COP is will be determined primarily by the popularity of the school. The more students applying for for a particular school, the higher COP will be (and vice versa).

But generally speaking, the COP of past batches is usually quite a good gauge of what the COP will be.

Thanks kiasuest2 and autolycus. I understand now.
When I went to a open-house recently, the Pricipal said that she does not know the COP? :!: It depends on demand and supply.
Now with your reply it is clear.
My kid will be P6 next year, just being kiasu and gathering info, in order to make 'informed choices' next year. 😉

259[/quote]I personally think we should not revive this thread to avoid confusing our members, especially at this time.

This thread is about 2009 COP for 2010 Secondary 1 and RI's 259 has already been taken into account. So I think we should avoid posting misleading and confusing information especially at this time since the PSLE selection of schools has just ended.

Fine to start a new thread to collate the 2010 COPs for 2011 Sec 1 intake, but not okay to revive this thread to confuse others.

I came across this site, when I was looking for 2010 COP.

              http://schoolranking.blogspot.com/

Where from the data was compiled is not known. You may want to check individually your schools of interest.

The data is based on the 2010 Sec 1 cohort. The official figures for the 2011 Sec 1 cohort is not out yet. Usually between March to April.

                  Oops…Sorry.

Since the article date is "Thursday, November 18, 2010", I thought it is for 2011.

Since this date itself is before PSLE 2010 result, it must be for 2010.

                  Thx for pointing.

Haha, no problem. Happen to notice it because I did the Official COP for the 2010 Sec 1 intake, that's how I know! 😉
