      Jennifer:

My boy got his art work flashed on the visualisor today as a sample of wrongly done assignment. He came back with the right version 1/2 done in sch.
Sigh. I hope his dignity is still intact. Many kids will do wrongly if the instructions is not clear. What IJJ mentioned earlier didn't sound like tessellations to me as well.

So did they do batik painting today? I wonder how he teaches them?

I conducted a \"batik painting\" with my P5 class before. We folded serviettes or kitchen napkins as many times as we can. It can also be folded into any odd shapes. Then we dip the different corners of a folded napkin into different diluted poster colours. The corners will absorb the paint to parts of the napkin. Then we leave them to dry. When we opened up the napkin (very gently) and voila!! A beautiful piece of batik art. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, he clearly does not like the instructor nor the topic now. Just take it as a training for increasing the thickness of his face. Mr. Chin told the class he wants to see an improvement in the pupils' work at the end of the year.

There was not enough time to do batik painting. Becos many pupils did not do last Monday assignment correctly.

 Haha. It will surely come in useful in future.

I am so sorry. So busy with stuff yesterday. According to her :-

            1. Fold paper into half. Cut along the line.
            2. Fold one of the sheets (half sheet) until it about the size of ๅฐไนฆ. Cut out the rectangle.
            3. Cut a shape out of the rectangle.
            4. Think and design pattern with the shape. Trace it repeatedly on the other half sheet of paper to make the pattern.
            5. Repeat 3 more times with different shapes.

I know this is just too late. :imsorry:

Today, she says it will be batik painting.

Thank you very much,IJJ. Where is my son on last Monday's arts class. Daydreaming? Completely no ideal what did teacher say. ๐Ÿ˜ข

sorry I can't help too. I saw my son did his art over the weekend. But I hv no idea what it is about. Something about tessellations (sounds very \"chim\" to me). You know how he prevents the paper from becoming salted vege? just fold into half and chuck into bag. no art folio, nothing.[/quote]Ha Ha ....
Sounds Exactly like my Gal - She did that for the past 5 years ....
And Ditto for for Eldest, and Second Boy - for ALL 6 years in Pei Hwa ....
            :celebrate: :celebrate:

Yup, my girl told me about it. It so mean I think. Last time, my art work was pinned up by my art teacher because it was a ๅ››ไธๅƒ . I remember it till now. ๐Ÿ˜

They were supposed to touch on batik, but due to insufficient time, it was postponed.

If it is only my boy who had done the assignment wrongly, then it shld be my boy's inattentiveness that got him into this. BUT the issue seems to be the instructor's inability to make sure all pupils understand him clearly.

Anyway, I hv sent in a letter to the HOD Mr Tan. Let's wait for his reply.

My boy also told me Mrs Foo reads this ksp post. Hopefully she is aware of what we hv bn sharing abt this arts instructor and will look into this issue soon.

For those P3 children who went for the JB trip last yr, they would have learnt about batik painting. My son brought one batik painting back that day...

Next time, you may want to quote from KS forum. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I am thinking of asking my girl to place less focus on the 'stupid' (pardon me!) art stuff. Next week is CA1 week!!!

You know, in everything my kids are learning, I welcome new skills taught. But not too challenging, to the extent of killing their interests. For that, I rather they learn in slower pace. W/o interest sustained, everything is nullified.

One question here, For those do wrongly or didn't do, do they need to do this again and hand up to the teacher next time?
My boy totally blur this time. ไธ€้—ฎไธ‰ไธ็Ÿฅใ€‚ :x

My boy told me he scolds at least 7 to 8 pupils each week.

Somehow the evil in me wants to write a unkind complaint letter to the sch HOD.

hi Jennifer, I askedy dd just now. She says Mr Chin is fierce in a funny, at first quite scary, but now she finds him ok.
Btw Jennifer, I heard alot of parents saying fr P4 to P5 is a huge jump. Why is that so? How badly wld one do in their p5 CA1?
