Thanks so much for sharing your DS's sch's Parent Workshop. P5/P6 Eng Compre is indeed challenging as there are always a few inferential questions which requires the child to think out of the box to score well in this section. :lol:

I wanted to do that but didn't because I neither read nor write Chinese... I know it is a template that Little Boy finds useful, but I am not sure how to render it for sharing... So sorry!

(1) Target to write 80 words for each picture.
(2) Systematically examine each picture from the perspective of 5 senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing).
(3) Examine the picture for every small detail and write about them.
(4) DO NOT make up things not in the pictures. Imagination is not encouraged. Accuracy of picture description is.
(5) Make sure you make a moral judgment about what is happening.

This is such an interesting approach. :idea: Gives so much more ideas/sentences to write about.

Thanks for sharing, I suppose these tips can be applied to EL compo as well.

I'm just sorry that I don't think I explained the Chinese Compo very well.

Would like to check with the parents here - HOW did your children manage to find the spare time to revise/prepare for PSLE?


Mine have supplementary classes everyday till evening, then rush through homework (really got to rush cuz a lot), shower, dinner, rest for a short while, bed time liao. If need to learn spelling and tingxie/moxie, mine will have to sleep very late (usually sleeps around 10pm+ to 12am+-, depending on the homework load).

She left only Sundays to rest (at times, if not too much weekend homework). Can tell that she is exhausted. Can't bear to get her to drill or work for PSLE. :?:

It’s all the same. The P6s I know all have 4 or 5 days in the week with afterschool supplementary classes. my girl needs to do homework till 10pm each day and struggles to finish compos and zuo wen overweekends. I feel sorry too as she had been telling me she’s so tired everyday.

Your explanations are clear. I understood whay you meant. Told DD about your tips...use 5 senses and not to be too imaginative beyond picture. Hope she'll implement the tips. Thanks.
