it is noted that the top scorer for 2010 PSLE was not in the above record : because he is in the school via DSA. Hence it is deduced that DSA candidates’ score are not reflected in the above listing

same reason for "none posted" for NUSH, SOTA, SST, SSC

Thanks for the post vk2010. It must have taken you some time to pull up the info from the MOE site.

And yes, MOE doesn’t include the scores of students who got into the schools via DSA. If they did, the mean and median of some of the top schools would be different I suspect.

for example, the school that the year's top boy (282) went to, though the COP is 259 but many with 262 could not get in via appeal (DSA), while those around 270+ got in easily via appeal...so probably the median for that school could be higher than the official 263..but it does not matter once they are in as they all start from the same baseline doing the same curriculum

Performance at PSLE is not an indicator of how well a student will do at secondary school. Hard work and perseverance are important factors too. And time management.

Now this is interesting - highest T-score for NYGS is 281. For 2010 PSLE, top scorer had a T-score of 282 and the next highest T-score was 279. Who scored 281? :? The score of 281 is only possible if the aggregate includes bonus point for HMT. So the question is - are all these published COPs inclusive of HMT? Also, it is quite interesting to note that someone who scored 281 did not get into NYGS via DSA.

Students who do very well academically and consistently do not need to apply via DSA. All sch will accept them for their high PSLE score. DSA is more for students who are gd in sports and want to go to a gd sch, or students who are not so gd but try to get a place in a gd sch or sch of their choice.

there were quite a number of them simply ignored the DSA, including GEP kids

who says bright kids must go via DSA ?

also, for the one with 281 in NYGH, she might not have taken HCL, who knows ?

That's true - the 281 might not include HMT.

However, is there any indication / clarification from MOE if the highest / lowest COPs for SAP secondary schools indicated in their website takes into consideration HMT points or not? With this clarification, at least there is no ambiguity for COP consideration when applying for SAP secondary schools.
